Fellow Aviators!

The Magaliesberg Institute of Weather Research has offered me a two week 'exchange assignment':

"To study the effects of the the moisture formed around a frozen margarita glass on the weather patterns surrounding Phi Phi Island in Thailand when temperature conditions exceed 40 degrees"
Phi Phi.jpg
A tough assignment indeed, but I figured that someone had to do it! So after some persuasion I have reluctantly taken on this assignment and so will be 'offline' for two weeks! :(

Whilst I am away please check the weather yourselves before heading out!!!

Greetings Fellow Aviators!

I'm back after my trip to Thailand! Unfortunately the results of the study were inconclusive and so they have asked that I return at some later date to conduct further studies!

I can report that microlight and LSA activity around the mainland and islands in Thailand is close to non-existant. The skies are simply empty! In fact the closest I came to recognising anything familiar with 'aviation' was THIS . . . .
Thailand - Indian Mina Bird.jpg
Anyway, it's real good to be back, but I was greatly saddened on landing to read the news of the death of Mr. Nawaporn ”Neil” Sawaetwong, well known for developing the first real aeropark in Thailand and for his promotion of microlights and LSA in Thailand. RIP. viewtopic.php?f=16&t=20246.

The first Magaliesberg Weather report of 2013 to follow shortly . . . . . (^^)

Pre-Report Comment: Not a good week for flying! One or two little windows of opportunity, otherwise keep you feet firmly planted on the deck! I have done this report today with a 'week view' so that you can assess those possible opportunities! This weekend looks like rain of biblical proportions!

I took my own advice and headed to Aeroden on Thursday late afternoon (6.20pm) and Friday morning (5am) . . . . on both occasions FANTASTIC flying conditions!!

Sunset was 7.04pm yesterday, so I landed at 7.19pm . . . . TO THE MINUTE!

There was little cloud about on both occasions but at least I have had my post-Thailand altitude fix which should see me through this rain-filled weekend!!

Take care out there this weekend chaps . . . . it doesn't look pretty! ## ##
