Me and a German friend decided to embark on a sight seeing trip around SA. We only have 6 days and the criteria is to experience true South African hospitality. We are planning on a couple of farm road landings and some "off the beaten track" flying. I will be equipting my Safari with a pair of serious 9.00 x 6 tyres with upgraded axles and dual brake calipers per wheel for those short fields. The planned route is as follow:
Thursday 3 Oct flying to Orania and sleeping over - 3.5-4 hour flight
Friday 4 Oct - Visiting Dirk V Rooyen somewhere near Williston on a farm - 3 hours
Sat 5 Oct - Weather depending Off to Barrydale to visit Jean - 2 hr or alternatively will divert to Loeries if the weather is bad in barrydale - also 2 hours
Sun 6 Oct - Weather depending will fly round the valley to montague a bit and then head off to Boet at Loeries. Backtracking via Williston again 6 hr's
Mon 7 Oct - Will visit Hennie at Verneukpan - 3hr's
Tue 8 Oct - Back Home - 6hr's
Total flying time - 23-26 hr's. Can't wait.
Will post updates here every now and again if and when we have some signal.
