Change of Ownership

Dear Misasa, Aeroclub and any others whom the shoe might fit. In January 2012 I submitted the necessary docs for COA. A year later. No COA. The USELESS officials at CAA have not ONCE got back to me. Colette van Zyl has visited CAA on at least 5 occasions to get the matter sorted out. Without success. The excuse is that CAA can't find the aircrafts file??????sorry???? So now, my good aviation friends and associations, can you help? My only solution is to declare UDI in Uitenhage and create our own CAA. Might be quicker.

Short of a High Court Application to force CAA to effect COA I'm pretty much screwed????

What say you John Boucher te al?

This is scary

Surely there must be certain legal obligation for them to ensure the safekeeping of our files - what if their building burns down?! We all sit without files

Why oh why they don't digitalize I can't understand, were living in the modern age of the computer and they still operate with physical files (same as most government departments and SAPS)

Perhaps the old school way gives them the option of 'losing the file' (or docket mostly) when it suits them, with digital copies its almost impossible with proper backups in place

Hi Fred

Maybe you could just e-mail me the particulars and let me follow it up.

You are most welcome to send it to admin@misasa.org

Hi Fred
I do not know what aircraft it is but if I might draw my own conclusion based on you mentioning Misasa and Aeroclub, are you not rather supposed to deal with RAASA instead? As I said I do not know the detail, only asking.

It's a Pegasus Quantum Super Sport trike. ZU-ECA. Your assistance would be most appreciated John.

Change of ownership is still CAA responsibilty. They maintain the SA Aircraft Register.

Just for interest's sake the following. The matter was NOT sorted out by John. I phoned John on Thursday afternoon and chatted to him about the CAA's neglect in effecting the change of ownership. By 9am the next morning I had been contacted by Natasha from CAA. She however was not from the registration department but from the accident investigation department. I specifically enquired from her as to where she had got my information . She replied that it had been from RAASA.

I can only speculate as to how the information reached RAASA.

I Have received the registration document from CAA in the interim. A year and 20 days after my application was sent off. I also received a written apology.

If I had the energy or the inclination to tell the whole story I would, but it will be a pointless waste of time.

Fred, so you imply the calls to CAA at my personal expense was waisted..(no, MISASA does not refund me for that!) and had no contribution to the matter being resolved or expediting the matter at all? I am curious as to what you further imply iro RAASA? Oh, I never once claimed that I sorted it out....
