George,
The text shows the reg to be ZU and yet the pic shows ZS?? If this is the George who did his licence at lightflight those 20 odd years ago, this trike will be in immaculate condition as was his Datsun Z260 in those days.

i am that george, and the trike is still immaculate however the wing is ageing, still in flying condition but ageing. it is indeed as the pic shows ZS, i moved on to helicopters some 10 years back and stored the trike away and have only just recently pulled it out and upgraded the engine , i parted with the z car many years ago and moved on to a ferrari.
did you prehaps own one of those trikes i rebuilt during my stay at light flight, if so what was the call sign, im trying to work out who you are

Hi George,

We shared a hanger at lightflight when we were both doing our licenses. I bought ZS - VZJ from someone at the school. Chris van Zyl

Im gona get stoned for this im sure..
but ive noticed in my few months of flying and trike shopping...most folk are looking for 582's, at the sub 80k mark..... but most 582's are over that, causing the market to look dead cause most "nice" trikes are out of us plebs price range...
But from what i can see there is nothing wrong with your trike. im just too big for a 503. (^^)

Morning vhpy

wackomedic911 what do you weigh :?:

I weigh 120kg and flew a Windlass 503 for over 250hrs ## The 503 and the 582 at cruise flies at the same speed, unless you have a well tuned wing

The Windlass 503 in our hangar cruises at 65mph and climbs like a bat out of hell...nothing wrong with a Windlass 503 ^*^^

The only difference in performance between a 503 and 582 is the climb rate, but with a Pprop on a 503, you gonna be climbing like a home sick angel ##

People are over exaggerating when it comes to the 582, it is only worth your while if you are flying a lot two up ##

The 503 sips fuel at around 8l an hour where with the 582 you in for 15L an hour, also depending on your configuration, but least I saw was 13L an hour on a 582 s079

So it all comes down to what you want, but if its your first trike and looking for something affordable, a 503 is great ##

Just my 50c

im also at 120..odd........
and thats my thing, I will be flying 2 up most of the time, thus my need for the 582 ^
See its the only way i can get the mrs to let me buy a trike before the wedding........ (-)
Ive only ever heard good things of the 503's, so dont get me wrong not dissing them, just saying it seems everyone is looking for 582's at this stage.
