Hi Tiaan,

The trailer I rented is 1.8m x 3.6m in size. I mms'd some pics of the trailer to your cell number. The bottom picture is taken from the inside of the car towards the trailer. I'm sure you'll get the idea...

Hi all,

Herewith one last attempt to swop either the KR2 project, the Mizer or both for a big touring bike, a car, a bakkie or a SUV of the same value. If within reason & I can afford, I'll even make an cash adjustment.

The KR2 project is already in Port Edward, the Mizer will follow soon.

Hi,

Niks wat ek meer graag sou wou doen nie. Met my nuwe werk situasie, huur ons nou 'n woonstel agter in iemand se erf in Port Edward. Ek kan ongelukkig nie daar aan dit werk nie. Ons moes al reeds van baie meubels my garage scrap, diere ensomeer ontslae raak om te kan pas. Ons kla nie, want ten minste bly ons vir die oomblik by die Suidkus en wat se voorreg is dit nie!!!

Dus, vir nou is sy toe onder 'n seil en onder 'n carport. Die vlerke en ander parte is binne in die woonstel. Dis die beste wat ek vir die oomblik kan doen. Wie weet wat miskien vorentoe gebeur...

Hi Johan,

Reeds nuwe, regte KR2 wiele met brieke gekoop. Reeds al die aluminium, boute ensovoorts gekoop om die enjin installasie te voltooi (goed soos 'n bracket vir die battery ens.) Reeds al die hout gekoop wat ek dink nodig is om die canopy te voltooi.

Die premolded cowling pas oor enjin soos is, so daar is nie baie werk nie. Jou grootse werk is om die nuwe canopy van lexan te maak. As jy belangstel in hierdie projek, sal ek jou wys wat ek in gedagte het. Die bestaande propeller is goed vir 75mph, so jy kyk definitief na 'n ander prop uiteindelik. Die prop is splinternuut en kan verkoop word om kostes te delg.

Jou grootste uitgawe gaan 'n vel Lexan wees vir die canopy. Dan moet die sitplekke opgestop word, fuel tanks moet onder & agter die sitplekke vervaardig word, presies op dieselfde metode as die oorspronklike planne. En dan moet sy geverf word.

Ek skat R10 000 tot R15 000 en dan is ek nie optimisties nie. Daar is basiese instrumente, maar ek is seker jy sal nog wil bysit. As jy hou by my veranderings, gaan jy een van die ligste, verseker vinnigste mikroligte vliegtuie he wat met 'n tweeslag enjin vlieg. En sy is breer binne van skouer tot skouer as meeste huidige mikroligte vliegtuie.

Wat nog gedoen moet word:

1. Voltooi enjin installasie. Maak throttle lever, kabel, choke controls, fireproof firewall, battery ens.
2. Maak weer fasteners vir die pre-molded cowling.
3. Maak nuwe canopy.
4. Maak nuwe instrument paneel.
5. Haal ou wiele af, sit nuwes aan en maak controls vir die brieke.
6. Maak of koop plastiek fuel tanks.
7. Stop sitplekke op, heg lewens gordels.
8. Verf.

Ek het die projek gekoop vir R20 000, enjin vir R15 000, wiele, pype, boute, aluminium ens vir R10 000. Dus kos sy my reeds R45 000 soos is. Ek verkoop haar vir R20 000 minder. En ek gee alles saam wat ek gekoop het. In my opinie is dit 'n goeie koop. My lewens omstandighede is vir die oomblik van so aard dat ek nie dink ek gaan haar in die nabye toekoms kan voltooi nie.

Hi,

Everybody asks me. So here is the answer for all to see. This is what I have in mind for building the canopy from cold, flat wrapped lexan. My idea is a combination of all of these pics. The bends will be either wood or foam & fibreglass & the rest nothing more than pieces of flat wrapped lexan.

Henni,

Ek sal die KR2 maar vir eers n pass gee dankie. Is baie temted om jou projek klaar te maak, maar daar is nog die MPL ook wat eers moet gebeur en sal eerder n klaar microlite koop om so gou moontlik in die lug te kom. Die KR is dalk ook nie ideaal vir n rookie nie. Miskien eendag as ek groot is. Sterkte met die verkoop en ook jou ander passies

Hi Henni

Will this be the first Kr2 with a Rotax engine in South Africa? If so, what are the Sacaa requirements, testing, engine mount structural tests, proving flights etc.

Well,

They are flying world wide & even here with four & six cylinder Jabirus, Subarus, VWs, Rotax 912 & 914s, Corvair 6 cylinders, Continentals and yes, even Rotax 582s. Even Franklin engines have been fitted. It seems like anything producing more than 60hp goes.

I gues you'll have to speak to Willie in SA who flies his with a six cylinder Jabi, as he's been there a his is legal. I still have to travel that route, so I cannot as yet answer your question. Saw a Bushbaby with a Subaru at Rhino Park. That engine is much heavier & much more powerful than my little Rotax, yet it is fitted to a microlight & it is legal & current. I do not foresee any problems.
