The kit comes with the belt system. It is a design thing.hummer wrote: I see it has s belt drive , any reason for this opposed to a gearbox, Does it have electric starter.
It also absorb a lot off vibration.

Re: NAMIBIA - CHALLENGER SHORTWING( PRICE REDUCED)
Thanks for answering Pierre.
I had a look this past weekend comparing my Aviatika against the Challenger - propeller wise
If you look at the photos of the Chally the engine is mounted upside down ( plugs at bottom ) which bring the position of the engine
at the back of the aft seat - and not above the head of the passenger seat.
This leaves very little room from the engine to the fuselage running to the tail feathers and would leave you with a very short propeller.
By using the belt drive the offset is upwards and give more space for a more sufficient propeller .
I think this also add to the nice crisp handling of the aircraft as all the weight from pilot , passenger and engine is in one straight line
and not the engine weight and drag sitting on top of the passenger's head. As Pierre said a design thing.
With this small engine she easily run from 85 to 90 mph at sea level and had to be throttled back although the short wing's VNE is 120 mph.
Through the last 40 hours i have flown the challenger we never needed to adjust or tighten the belt and all is still in very good condition.
Personally owning a gearbox driven 582 Rotax or the belt drive of the Challenger there is no difference.
The challenger has a 60 inch propeller and the aviatika is more like around 70 inches

Re: NAMIBIA - CHALLENGER SHORTWING( PRICE REDUCED)
Aircraft is actually standing now that my son is away.
I am flying it about every second weekend for 20 min just to keep it going and clean
All authority to fly , radio licensing etc kept up to date.
Fortunately not a must sell situation for the very optimistic.
Only one pilot with two aircraft to fly ?

Dag Jaques ( INDUNA )
groete
