Aquilla 582 price
Hi all
I am looking at my first trike and I am wondering about the price.
Aquilla 1wing, 582 rotax silvertop
It has 486 on the Hopps
Intearcoms
GPS
2 headsets
Hand held radio
The 2 side bags has small torns in although it has been hangered all the time..
2 extra side bags that is a bit bigger.
Will have to put 3new tyres on.
ATF has expired
Comes with a trailer.
Trike in very good condition but has not been flown in 17 months.
How much do I offer for a trike like this?

Re: Aquilla 582 price
KP, it would be easier to put a price to it with some photos.
Do you have any you could post?
Also, is the 582 a silver top or blue top? (photos should show this)

Re: Aquilla 582 price
Isn't an aquilla 2 wing keel pipe supposed to be inside the wing sail?

Re: Aquilla 582 price
Silver top is fine. Flew mine for many hours without any issues whatsoever.
The pylon fairing is missing, although not an essential item, it does look good and adds value.
Have the condition of the dacron and stitching checked. Thats a big expense to have fixed.
Check that the books, engine and airframe, correspond. Was this the engine that was fitted at the time of manufacture, and do the serial numbers correspond? Why does the prop time differ from the total time? (was it in an accident? Prop strike perhaps?
Any previous accident damage should be noted in the books, take some time to study them.
It the trike clean and well looked after or is it full of dust and neglected?
Has it been standing in a hanger unused for many years? If so, the crank shaft may have rusted.
How many hours has it flown per year since it was manufactured?
I would suggest that you take your own AP with you to do a pre purchase inspection. It may cost you a few bucks, but it could save you way more.
The price is based on willing buyer, willing seller, but I would take a stab at ..... between R50k and ... R75K MAX. Maybe i'm delusional.
Don't buy the first thing you see. I traveled from JHB to DBN to buy mine and brought it back on a trailer. There are plenty on the market, take your time and look around. Rich! .... coming from a guy who bought his based on the colour!
Just my thoughts...

Re: Aquilla 582 price
im with bob! get someone to do a prepurchase inspection before you buy!!!
I burnt my fingers, buying my first trike in April, a aquilla blue top with a 1 wing... at 40K i was quite happy! it had passed a AP and a valid ATF was given with the trike........
the pitot tube wasnt connected to the skydat
it had not a drop of gearbox oil inside
someone mixed different oils causing it to become goo
one spark plug was rusted in so solid it had to be machined out
the waterpump's impeller was held on by love and good luck
the prop looked like it would shatter if you just touch it too hard.
the wiring was a mess
the ptt was cut off
had anyone tried to fly this trike, with a valid atf and that passed a AP days before buying it, it would have been a very bad day.
I can carry on but you get my point?
My trike started yesterday for the first time since buying it, after a complete rebuild.
SHOP AROUND, trust no one, and get someone that has the right papers to check it out before you buy it.

Lucky for me....you help alot to figure this out... havent even thought about 90% of the things you mentioned..
Thanks Bob
Thank Wacko
I asked for the logbook to be delivered to the trike so that all paperwork is in one place. Talked to an AP which confirmed the hours. But the prop hours is actually the same as motor.
We started the motor yesterday and shes running smooth.. which made even my heart to smile..
Will get quote to replace all rubbers and fuel lines.. before getting the AP .. will have a good sense of what to offer by then..
Thanks to all for the questions and info...
If you see something in the pics to follow..then please let my know..

Re: Aquilla 582 price
The hoses on your plane are air hose, replace them with proper fuel hose. Air hose gels up with fuel and may result in an unintended landing somewhere.
Re: Aquilla 582 price
Always take someone with more experience with you to inspect....even if you have to pay them, it will def be worth it.
Byron and others have given you an idea of the potential pitfalls you may face, and it helps a lot to have someone you trust with the suitable Technical knowledge to be able to help you make a good choice.
I have seen fully flying 582's with similar hours go for less than R60k in the last year....I don't think you should be offering more than that to be fair as from what I can see this trike will need a little TLC to get her fully airworthy again.
Gav is 100% right....those hoses gotta go pronto!
Best of luck with the search.
