Hi Boet

Yes it uses blind rivets. Got a box af 12 500 of them. Makes building a lot faster. I understand that because of a max speed restriction on LSA in the USA that they could afford the additional drag that the pop rivets would cause.

Much easier for a novice builder like myself and less chance of damaging skins than by using solid rivets.

cheers

PS - Tailspin only uses wood and glue so he does not even know what a rivet is vhpy vhpy

Hi Crosswind

I ordered three of the six kits from Vans Aircraft. The Empenage (tail), wing and fuselage kits. Thats all the aluminium construction.

I did not ship it via Vans but used a SA guy by the name of Jeff Sharman who finds second hand planes in the USA and buys them for SA customers. He ships the kit boxes in the same containers and it works out cheaper with less admin.

The quality of the kit looks really good. The zodiac kit I'm building is pretty good generally but the quality of the 12's kit looks superb.

Look forward to the rest of your build.

Have you seen that Kitplanes is doing a series on a few guys who are building an RV12. If you are interested PM me and I will lend you the mag (if you don't have it already) as I am in the West Rand too.

Cheers

I will post some pics soon.

What happened to this build? ##
Are there no RV12’s flying in SA as yet?

Will Rudi Greylings project be the first RV12 to fly in SA? (^^)
