So after a couple of days of serious hard graft she is now in one piece.
Weight and balance has been done.
First start up was done
Teething problems to sort out
And balance of the build list to complete
She's getting there.....

Thanks Oupa G, i intend to do alot of adeventure flying with this baby. Yes as you know its alot of work and sometimes you just want to burn everything, but a little break every now and then does wonders for the project. So this weekend im off to Ballito for some rest. My next project will have your BMW motor in it so you guys better finish soon so we can see the performance, but im sure it will be great.
I was reading your post on the weight of the BMW vs Rotax. Unfortunately my motor is now fully installed and there is now way i am going to strip it off to weigh it, i dont have the energy to go through that right now. But here is a pic of the weight on the front wheel as we took for the weight and balance. This is fully installed with all liquids, wiring, engine mount, battery, cowling etc etc. But im not sure how relative it all is, as you have the rear fuse that is probably taking some weight off the front maybe, then again this weight also includes front fork and tyre. The weight on the scale is 59.8kg

Re: She's getting there......
Good day everyone. And a very good day it is indeed. Progress was going a little slow over the past month, so last week I took an entire week off to focus on the last few things. And it was all worth it. All the little outstanding items were completed and then the paperwork started. I visted ICAASA and got radio license. I visited CAA and got change of ownership. I visted RAASA and got LSA license. Then i re-visted CAA for the biggest part of it all . . . and i got the ATF. Woooo Hoooo.
I must say that i dont now what all the complaining is about with the authorities. I think i did my fair share of visits to all of them and not once did i encounter any problems. Yes perhaps its not as easy as the old days but we must accept that things change. What i found is that if your paper work is in order and all stamped correctly then there are NO problems whatsoever.
Thanks to all those involved to make things happen. Its been a wonderful and sometimes frustrating one and a half year project and over 600hours of labour, shew. This weekend she flies.
