The BB Explorer tailwheel frame, build, painted, assembled with upholstery weighs 189kg-195kg. This excludes the engine, prop and instruments. It icludes the 912 engine mount, cowls, balloon tyres etc. We are starting tommorrow on a Super Sport for a client, I will then weigh the kits at the same stage of contruction to compare apples with apples.

Goose, thanks for the costs. The reg of my KFII was AHF.
Did someone had the idea of inflating the frame of an ultralight with nitrogen ?
It is like this with the french helicopters "Alouette II" and "Alouette III".
Never seen a problem of corrosion. Furthermore you see at once if the is a crack.
It is certainly one of the reasons why they have been flying for 50 years !

guy dont befooled and think that 4130 doesn't rust because it does so the rusting is not the problem it's just the weight and working on the metal the 1010 tubing is easier to fix

and some of the car racing guy have gone back to 1010 tubing because it absorbs the crash better than the 4130 tubing , so weigh up the pro and cons and then use what you can get you hands on!

Nice one Mr Goose.
Come to the Kitplanes factory and see how the Kitfox Mig welding is ALMOST as as good as our Tig!
Just yanking your chain.
The Kitfox 7 we are building for a customer has some very nice design ideas on it, some of which will be incorporated (with improvements in order not to violate any patents ':- ) into future models.

You'll have to wait and see MYR, it will take time as we have to run any structural changes past CAA.
Type acceptance becomes null and void after ANY unapproved structural change.
Acceptance of "Grove" type spring gear has been granted.

Goose, sorry for the hijack! you or any other interested aviator are welcome to visit us at the Kitplanes factory.
Firstly, we don't build Bushbabies, we may fix them sometimes but we now produce the Explorer and Safari.
When you visit you will see that in the few short months that we have been in operation, KFA has come a long way.
We will proudly show you how much we have invested in a product that we believe has huge potential.
We are working very hard to correct the stigma which came with the old BB that it is a "cheap" plane. That tag came about because all sorts of back yard mechanics were building them, some to very dubious standards.
Imitation is the highest form of flattery and the old BB was indeed a copy of the Kitfox, just like the Apollofox and Eurofox. The Kitfox is an awesome machine machine but also costs an awesome amount of cash!
See you at Komati.

Hi Goose.

Your panel is looking really great. The six pack balances all the engine instruments and you have a lot of space left.

I really did want a six pack in my new explorer but the one cross member interfered tto much, perhaps they will look at this as a mod on the buchbaby.

When do you expect to fly.
