Groetnis

Hi Zazu
Good the see a post from you again!
Regarding the tailwheel spring, this was a common problem with the springs MJ was supplied with in the old days. The temper was never right. My first BB's spring bent like a piece of spagetti on the maiden flight
Our springs now have a slighly different profile and the correct temper and do not bend or break with normal use. We have a new batch coming from the supplier in about 2 weeks or so.
The exhaust gas smell in the cockpit is probably coming up through the bungee hole (tailie) at high angles and slow forward speed climbs (Vx), I have never bothered to try to correct this as that phase of flight does not normally take that much time. However if it is bothering you it would be easy to experiment with a little temporary deflector lip taped to the belly forward of the bungees, move it around a bit till you find the sweet spot, then post the results!
Cheers
Rick
