Scale model project

Postby skydancer » Thu May 22, 2008 2:24 pm

Hi there fellow microlighters,im planning building a scale model trike, and my chosen model will be a Raptor, and I was just wondering if anyone could help me out with some dimensions from their Raptor trikes? If there's anyone willing to help out,I will supply you with the info I require.

Kind regards

Mark

Hi there Mark

Is this just going to made a static model or a flyable one. If so, what motor and how many servos do you intend using?

Lol nah no this will only be display model, would have been nice though, but for now just focus on a nice display model for clubs or flying schools, well thats what I am aiming at,but I will do one first, and take a whole bunch of pictures on here for everyone to see what they can expect.I got some drawings of the wing, trike and just browsing for engine dimension specs. My plan is to construct one from aluminium round tubing, some fabric material covering for RC models. But before I consider the costs involved,I need dimensions to work with.

If you hav'nt yet, give the Raptor man Manfred a call from Tedderfield. Very accomodating and the Raptor manual is also very extensive.

Hi there Trikenut,im not 100% sure what it will cost if I did construct a model ideal for RC flying, but I will see how I do with this scale model only, and see what the cost of material will be.And whether this design will be strong enough,I wonder if this model could be useful for RC flying though.haha

Hi there Trikenut, not much im afraid, still need to go measure a Raptor, but its been in and out at the museum at Rand and flying lessons in between. But I have found a victim last week Friday at Springs to ask permission to measure his Trike when ever he and I are available, and photo shoots, but I got the diagrams and still looking around and found Grand Prix Hobbies,at K90 centre next to East Rand mall, very useful in terms of aluminum and copper pipes, they are a bit pricy But I guess for the mean time they will do,as I dont get much response from other aluminum and steel companies. But I guess its probably a case of catering for huge demands rather then someone who wants a few metres for model plane building. But thanks again for popping the question regarding the project,I really appreciate the thought. Thanks :)
