I never made the canopy itself only the frame. A chap in Kempton park blow's canopies for the local motor bike club and I got one from him. It's not exactly what I wanted but for R600 I cannot complain. :) I wanted to import a KR1 canopy from Aircraft Spruce but it's just too expensive.

The KR is not designed for acrobatics as it's empennage is too small although it can defiantly handed the G's. The KR1 is rated @ 11g's. I've seen a guy do aerobatics in a KR2 (ZS-VNL) but you really need to know your stuff as it goes into a spin very quickly.

The instrument panel was made from a 2" sheet of polyurethane foam shaped into a half moon and covered with bi-direction glass cloth, two layers on the inside and one layer on the back of the panel. This makes a strong and very light panel. Only basic VFR instruments have been install along with a MGL-EMS503 engine management system. 8) The wiring is now complete and tested okay - canopy installation is next….

Well, I've finally finished the canopy installation and will be working on the wings next. In the meantime I've ordered a set of premoulded ailerons from Peter Eich, this should speed up the build time and hopefully I'll have the wings done in 3-4 weeks. ##

I pulled it out the garage this weekend to check what she looks like in the sunlight. It's funny how the sun shows up all those imperfections...

Time for another picture? I get a huge amount of pleasure following these builds. I am in utter awe of you guys who take on a project like this. I tell myself I will build a plane one day but I wonder if I really have the staying power to do it.

Hello Gunter,
Unfortunately I've sold the project... :( I'm just too busy at work and I'm also rebuilding a Bush Baby so I decided to let it go. Fortunately the new owner is an experienced KR2 pilot who has the time to complete it so I'm comfortable it wont land up on the scrap heap again :P I'll be posting some updates on the project soon.

Cheers

For what price did you sold her?? Looks like a fantastic little plane!!

Is there any other guys wanting to sell KR kits in SA? And at what price are they going?

Good luck with the building guys.

Don't think there are any kits. You gots to make it all yourself...

It seems to go in phases and there is usually a flood of KR's onto the market, then quiet for a while and then for sale again usually a little more expensive than before...

Bushbaby is almost done, I still need to fit the cowlings/spinner and finish off the doors. Will post some pic's when I get it out the garage.

I believe the KR1 is also coming along nicely, maybe KRJOCKY will post some pic's soon.
