As jy die vliegtuig wil lig hou, kyk na die Grove opsie vir landing gear blades. Dis duur, maar lig en die moeite werd... Hulle het die KR2 template ook. Weet nie of dit tri gear of conventional is nie...

Springstaal is swaar...!!!

Hi all,

Having a SERIOUS flu attack. Been in bed for most of this nice & sunny the day. Trying to get to a condition where I can actually fabricate something tomorrow.

I now have everything I need for the engine mount. Engine mounting rubbers on it's way to me. This is similar to how I've mounted it before and how I'm going to do it again. I need to get the prop to the top without the engine protruding. Inverted it'll have to be. See how nice the cowling looked previously.

Update: Started with the engine mount today, but after two hours the flu got the better of me. One is always optimistic when one purchases something. As I start to work on her, I notice the things that need attention that I was not aware of. I'll have to open part of the wings where the foam cracked. Nothing major, but unforeseen. Also the aileron bellcrank can never work as is. I'll have to go through all the controls very carefully & might even have to change quite a few things.

Thus my target date of three months might not be all that realistic. I am however still happy with my purchase, she just requires a little more work than anticipated, that is. It takes a LOT of work to get any aircraft project to that stage of completion. What's left to do is minor in comparison.

Keep well all,

Henni

Hi Rudi,

Tx mate. Unfortunately the flu has the better of me - three days already. My engine mount should have been finished already. Luckily the long weekend is coming & I intend to take a few days leave with it. Hopefully I can show some real progress soon.

All the best my friend,

Henni

Hi all,

Found this interesting discussion. This all happened in my era & I knew Sakkie personally. I also flew with him in UKU shortly before this incident.
quote wrote:After the 86’ Margate air show, he asked us if his son Bertie could come back with us in Pete’s C172, and I remember somewhere near Harrismith, Sakkie and Maureen came hurtling past us at probably 170 plenty mph, --- and there we were making that ole’ C172 sweat along at about 110 mph.

It was a beautiful day with the Berg on our left and we watched him make a gentle left hand orbit ahead across our nose, to formate back on the 172 on the left, he had slowed it down a bit and as he came passed big smiles, waves and hello’s on the radio, then off they went into the blue yonder. They landed at Lanseria and drove back to Krugersdorp and watched us land. I thought “jeez, that’s haulin’
quote wrote:UKU was very fast. On their way up from FASH Sakkie called East London overhead PA and then again wherever his next reporting point was. The guy in the tower was quiet for a while and then came back and asked Sakkie to confirm that UKU was an ultralight, which eventually ended up with Sakkie being cleared for a fast fly-by, much to our....and the guys in the tower's delight!
