Rudi - AP is happy.. (so far at least..)

An update...

Finished Right wing today - All flying surfaces complete !

Here's my buddy John and Zet (the always around dog) with the wing.

John has provided fantastic help, especially with skins which need more than 2 hands to assemble !

Image

Never fails to amaze me how straight the construction becomes once riveted.
Here the lens is directly in line with the one slat bracket hole, all 4 slats line up precisely !

Image

Here all assembled parts are stored... next stop paint shop for them..

Image

Oh, I also found a company in Strydom Park that laser cuts, final dash is cut.. Had to see if all fitted ...

Image

Now what do you suppose this fan is doing here ?

Ditto, You can come by any time, as long as I can come and witness your project as well.

Hi Rudi

Laser Cutting
Dont know if I can do this (Moderators ?) but anyway Laser cutting is done by:
Laser Options
245 Masjien st - Strydom Park
Mark - 083 395 8776
They charged me R395 for a test cut (normal allie) and final cut with T6061-T6.
You give them a DXF file, they request 1 or 2 confirmation measurements then a day or so later you have it..

Painting:
Havnt a clue at this stage, just know after all this blood and sweat Im gonna pay for a pro job...

Build time:
Yes, it goes fast, but I am way over the time that other guys on a Savannah group site claim... but yes, it is quick and very enjoyable to do. Dont need anything close to the skills that one needs to tackle an RV..

The fan:
Close but no cigar ! he he - lets see if anyone else reads these posts....

YES Sir ! :D

But I'm not sure if the dog can lift it's leg that high... :?

Our rainy season starts soon (although we had 12 unusual mm last week) and as I didn't prime inside, I need to paint the outside before spraying the inside with a CFC (corrosion prevention compound) like Dinitrol AV8. And it would be sad if I had some moisture corrosion in the mean time. :( So hopefully the moisture gets extracted ... Can only try...

Quick update from the workshop...

Last week and the weekends work = 18 Build hours to deburr, clean and paint all lapping surfaces, then cleco all up. No rivets fired into the main frame yet..
Only error was getting the rudder cables mixed up.. (they really did look the same)... but the nylon bittie that exits the cable to the rudder are inverted.

Quote from the agent's news e-mail (John Waterson) shown below:
Hi Guys

This is the first Oribi 582 built as our Demo by Guy Blaine in PE.

We decided to go for the Bush Colours to attract the attention of the farmers and nature lovers.

Awaiting Reg No's CAA.
