Neatest way to cut 4130 tubing

Postby bobthebuilder » Fri May 25, 2012 7:07 pm

What tool is better suited to cutting 4130 tubing?

Options would include:
1) Band saw
2) Cut-off saw
3) Pipe cutter (plumbers type)

Any other ideas?

I set up a absorption refrigeration plant years ago and for a perfect cut we used a hss steel bladed cut off saw. However the trade uses now some very high tech band saws. I have also built some very sophisticated cnc steel tubing cutters using steel blades and bundle cutting. If you want precision with welding you have to either laser cut or mill the ends perfectly to size. You remember the mini, i made some of the car heater tooling for that...shows my age !
Centrifugal force in pure Physics does not exist, however this does not apply to Taxi drivers..

Hi Byron... you were looking for "local 4130" a while back on this forum: I assume you found a source, if so, where did you get, or did you import in the end?
...Yes, and what the heck are you building, or restoring? Please share..
