Yes, Afrox (BOC) or preferably Airliquide. If using for alluminium insert a refrigeration filter/drier after the flow meter to remove the dark smuts caused by impurities in the shielding gas. If using for mig you can buy mixed ratios according to application ie corgon which is co2/argon/oxygen.
Centrifugal force in pure Physics does not exist, however this does not apply to Taxi drivers..

Use crystal argon

KFA, according to the gas supplier, crystal is the regular stuff. Is this correct?

There are two other grades, available that appear to be of a higher quality.
This will be used on 4130, and a small amount of ali.

Does anybody know where I can buy (rather than rent) a medium size argon cylinder in the Pretoria area? All the places I have found only want to rent out huge cylinders - and with the amount of welding I will do, rental is not really worth it...

Afrox changed their minds. They will now SELL you a bottle, and it STAYS your property. Look into it.

Thanks Boet. I went to their Silverton depot, and they said 'rental only' - will try their Watloo depot sometime...

Nope. They only sell Oxygen and Acetylene cylinders. Not argon.

Seems like the only real option is to rent a cylinder for a day, and use it to fill my own cylinders... Industrial gas suppliers are a serious pain in the nether regions.
