Made 3 ribs already, fourth one is in the jig. No 5 goes in tomorrow! Started on the new panel as well. We want this aeroplane to be very light! The "new" engine has a starter and a generator, so no more prop swinging. (!!) (!!)

Note buggered mainspar in the background. It was damaged in a taxi accident. Something rather vauge pertaining brake failure and a small Camel thorn tree that was in the way......

Today was a sad day for us, for we had to say goodbye to a very dear friend, who lost her battle with cancer. I spent the afternoon working on the Bipe`s panel. Keeping my hands and my mind busy, trying to make sense out of life. At least I manage to get some sense into the panel. "Shrunk" the 3- 1/8 slip-ball to 2-1/4". It looks a bit better. And shuffled the steamies around a bit, to make space for the radio as well. That is now going into the panel, no more hanging below like a "station-bomb". As this aerie will now sport an electric system, there will obviously need to be a coupl`e more switches and fuses and stuff! In my present state of mind I did not touch the wing spars out of fear of making mistake.....very very expensive mistakes. But we have enough other work on this plane to keep our minds and hands occupied. It is coming together. vhpy

And after it has been made smaller. I used the casing from another old instrument that was U/S.

Today felt like Christmas in the middle of the year. The courier guy turned up with along parcel. New prop from Oom Piet and Tannie Bets. Another work of art. I pulled it out of the pacaging, and pushed it onto the prop flange. Fits 100%. Oom Pieta hulle mag maar! (!!) (!!) (!!) (!!) (!!) (!!) (!!) (!!) (!!) (!!) (!!) (!!) (!!) (!!) (!!) (!!) (!!) Gino, here`s some pics. I am busy with the panel while William is sorting the cooling of the engine out. Prop looks nice he? The top sheet metal part of the fuselage is now a no brainer to remove for inspections, maintenance etc. This plane becomes a bit like an Impala. You will need two sets of spanners to work on it. American, metric and imperial!
