Hi Maybe.

I had bike body kits made a couple of years ago by a company called Roamar rand in Germiston and came across a whole lot of different plugs for spats and prop spinners . I found just the right size and shape spats and prop spinner for the falcon p1 i was flying at the time. I even found a plug for the Beaver 550-650 body kit. Im sure if you ask them to look around you will find what you need.

Good luck with your project.

Freddie.

Hi Guys,

We've clocked up more than 50 hours already...and it is going well.

QUESTIONS:

1.) How do you get rid of the fuel smell inside the cockpit?? I've spoken to other guys with Zodiacs/Ravens ....seems to me all have that problem to some extend. We've ordered Snap Vents from the States.....installed them.....and although they make a difference....I can still smell too much fumes to my liking.
Anyone with ANY ideas?

2.) I've ordered some wheel spats from BOET, I think he's spats looks the best. Does anyone have "fairings" for the rest of the assembly...? Or would it not make a big difference?

3.) We are getting good power on take off and for the first 3000ft..... but I took the plane to 8500ft on Friday....and I sense a bit of rough running. How do one get the best performance over a large altitude range?

Thanks....

(-)
Happy Flying.

Your rough running at altitude might be due to rich running - what do your EGT guages say while this is experienced? - if temps are dropping significantly it's too rich should be 680-720 deg.
I had similar experience in the J430 at full taps in cruise at 9500, goes away as soon as you ease off a bit of throttle. otherwise maybe your altitiude compensation is not working properly - read diaphragm in carb. Is the econo-kit fitted to the carb?

Don't have EGT's fitted....only CHT's

Yes, if I throttle back ... the rought running seems to go away. There a slight possibility that the float level might be at 12mm instead of 11mm. Maybe that is contributing as well.

This is a new spec engine (85hp) with BING carb....and I assume they came out with the economy kit....so yes...economy kit fitted.

Is there a special way of checking that the altitude compensation is working or not? Visual inspection or a test?

Thanks for info crazeeflya...!!

Hey Maybe, on the fuel smell try posting your question on http://forums.matronics.com/viewforum.php?f=68 as it has a much bigger dedicated list of Zodiac owners who likely have had a resolved the problem.

Cheers

Ek het jare terug so n probleem met my groot errie se tenk gehad.

Groete

Martyn, jy is sommer net bleddie jaloers. As Oompie Piet vir n Jabbie n Prop maak vlieg hy beter.

Hi Boet,

Ek maak sommer net 'n grap oor die spinner....jou spinners lyk vrek mooi!

Huidiglik met die tandestokkie gee hy my so 90-95 MPH (IAS) op 15lph. En as ek my gps so dophou, average ek gewoonlik 'n 100MPH (TAS) <as die wind ons nou nie wegwaai nie  >

WHAT A GENTLEMAN!! So ek gaan definitief bietjie vir hom gaan kuier so oor 3 weke. Klink my of die nuwe prop tog vir my 'n paar ekstra MPH gaan gee.....   (kan nie wag nie !!)

(^^)
