The Yaris powered Explorer now has 27hrs flight time and the engine 38hrs including ground testing, and with no snags so far vhpy vhpy vhpy
Fuel consumption in this application calculated over the 27hrs flight time is 8.9 ltrs average fuel burn/hrs including warm up and taxi and 12.5ltrs in cruise
more or less wat was expected but still the most economical that i have flown :) :)

The belt redrive has also performed well
and the belt tension seems to have settled after 3 adjustments
The 90hp kit which i ordered got delayed due to strike action in France ## ##

I really enjoy flying this plane she is very forgiving and I am considering converting to taildragger :o :o

Anyone got tail gear that they would like to exchange for tri gear,or would like to part with at a reasonable price

The 40 hours proving flight time has been flown off and the application for authority to fly has been forwarded to CAA.
Hopefully the yaris powered explorer will be able to visit other airfields shortly.

The proving hours went by without any problems, we had a radio problem and the artificial horizon on the MGL played up a bit and we had to install a trim tab on the rudder to compensate for engine torque. When trimmed for straight and level flight she flies hands off.

The 90HP kit we ordered was lost in transit and a new kit is being sent to us which we hope to recieve later this month.

ZU FIZ has recieved its authority to fly and is no longer restricted to 100km from Saldanha and will be visiting neighboring airfields shortly.
Looking forward to meeting like minded aviation enthusiasts.

And here`s the man himself, and his pride and joy. This mod has been running faultlessly now for many hours....... The engine itself has not been modified at all, exept for the throttle bodies and the ECU. vhpy

I have seen it it is a beauty. Ystervark and myself have been looking with a serious eye at the belt drive and I'm just getting the CAA paperwork cob webs out of my brain at the moment my brain is scared of having another CAA encounter but I know this will disappear and then we will do it like big governments develop something in secret and then let it leak out when it is to late to to do something about it. Dieseldog wonderful we need more of this.

Cheers Oupa-G
