Prop stuck at customs in JB , nobody is clear on what duties and taxes are due once this is sorted and paid package will be cleared and delivered maybe coming week.Communicating with SARS is not easy , especialy if you can only speak English or Afrikaans.

Jaaaaa swaer. Maak die "geentaliges" n man se moermeter waaaaay in die rooi in. Daai geel raampie is nou ook n errouplyn. Vlerke is 90% klaar, romp klaar geverf, nog net trim kleure doen.
Wanneer gaan jy die cowls trek? Ek is nou baie nuuskierig oor hoe die enjin gaan vlieg.

Re: TOYOTA YARIS ENGINE
Oupa-G you are correct regarding the fuel consumption especially if we consider what farmers realise for their produce on the market ,no GOV subsidies ,not exactly a level playing field as we compete against cheap and mostly inferior imports ,food security is not high on the agenda of the governing party.Farming is not recommended for the fainthearted .
Fitted the prop and did the first full power ground run today max static rpm 5200.

Re: TOYOTA YARIS ENGINE
So nou kan jy hom al gebruik vir n "wind maak masjien" op n filmset waar hulle n film maak oor n orkaan?? Ek sou reken die enjin moet so 5400 gee static. Stel die pitch bietjie fyner.

Re: TOYOTA YARIS ENGINE
Changed the pitch of the prop geting 5650-5700 rpm static now ,the engine feels smoother through the rev range.

That did not take long, very observent Oupa-G,no unfortunately I could not make the fly-in, had to represent the WEKUS branch of SA hunters at a anual shoot at Atlantis at least our team managed a bronze medal and our ladies kicked dirt in the eyes of many hard bearded men

Re: TOYOTA YARIS ENGINE
This is amazing, Diesel dog.
I have been following the whole process from the beginning with keen interest. I am considering this as a possible power plant in a Savannah.
I can't believe how quickly you get things done, especially as you also have so many other things that you are involved in, and the farming. You already seem to have completed the top cowling moulding. It seems the saying is true: "if you want something done, give it to a busy man!"
The top photo above worries me a bit, in that all of the props I have seen with tip strakes have the strakes trailing towards the rear, whereas in this photo, they appear to be facing forward. is this right?

Re: TOYOTA YARIS ENGINE
These props have the tips curling forward. Very pretty, very smooth, and very quiet. BUT also damages very easy and most times can not be repaired.
