Those are excellent pumps the best. I have used them on our BM installation the pumps have check valves inside them that is how they maintain the pressure in the system as bled down by the fuel regulator. The only thing that I would do is to give each pump its own filter so when you go to the backup pump you then get a new filter. Diesel Dog what is also important is a good pre-filter . These pumps run on very fine tolerances and the slightest impurity can jam the impellers. I'm glad Ystervark could help you.

Cheers Oupa-G

Oupa-G I agree the stand by pump should have its own high press filter. There are in line filters from tank to collector. My first consideration was weight and regular replacement of the filters, but one tank of contaminated fuel changes the scenario .
Do you return your fuel to tank or to the collector (heat build up)and if to tank do you have extra fuel cocks fitted.
Has anybody got a sugestion for a name for this project , the first that comes to mind ( go anywere tough no frills ) TOLLA

Well done Dieseldog!

I think that everybody is as exited as you about this.

About the fuel system I can confirm that the fuel will not flow back through the fuel pump if it is not switched on. If does not have a non return valve but if you cut it open you will see that it is mechanically impossible for the fuel to flow if the pump is not running (maybe there are different designs ?).

I have attached an image of how I would connect the fuel system with 2 pumps based on how we connect the BMW duel system. The system have 2 pickups from the tank with their own pre-filter pump and main filter each. We think that it is very important to have 2 sets of filters because they do block, in fact on Oupa-G's first BMW engine the filter blocked after about 10 hours and he had to land on the beach (but that is another story).

Who said building aeroplanes was easy?I wonder why they call it glad wrap, because you are glad when you have finished working with it.
