Hey Gavin, long time no see. Have been watching your progress...looking good. Feel free to pop round any time, weekends are good. Have not done that much recently but maybe will look like something since you were last round.

Intending on doing somme building from 24 Dec to 9 Jan but imagine that I wont get much done with the whole family and holiday thing.

Hi Guys, just ticking over on the project and wanting to fabricate a fairing for the canopy. Trouble is that I have no experience in working with fiberglass and making the associated forms.

Can anyone either advise me or point me in the right direction of some decent reading material and where to source the right materials locally?

Afternoon all, has anyone on the forum put a fibreglass fairing around their canopy? I am new to fibreglass and wanted to know how you protected the canopy and got the fairing to be a nice tight fit. Also any guidance on securing the fairing would also be appreciated.

Made my way out to AMT near ORT to buy all the necessary fibreglass bits for the fairing (thanks for the recommendation Justin). Practicing some lay ups on the workbench to see how the curing time goes, understand how many lay ups I would require and how to work with flox and microballoons to fill in the imperfections/create a smooth surface. Good to learn something new.

Manage to get back into building recently and put in a good few hours over Christmas.

used heat shrink rubber tubing to cover the canopy hoops which seems to have give a robust and good looking finish. Also decided that the kit needed to accommodate access to the rear of the instrument panel so fashion some access hatches....will secure the coverings to the hatches with rivinuts. Put together some wooden seat backs to seal off the access hole into the rear fuselage.

Was nice to build again after almost a year off.
