Hi Jean, not much progress...started trying this whole spray painting gig which seems to be a learning curve but seems to be going ok. Started trying to remove some scratches from the canopy with some special kit from the States...we'll see how that goes.

Sure, if you want shark skin, orange peel, or runs - I am very good at all of these finishes :( .

:)

Only one run through stupidity and no orange peel....however I did manage to perfect shark skin by overspraying on one area of the baggage shelf....needless to say the sand paper has been out on that area already....seems rescuable with a bit of sanding and another coat.
Quite satisfying when it goes right though! (I assume!)

Sorry for the hijack but you might like this photos. I bought a transponder on e-bay, hope it works, that will be the last of the interior work. Will start with the fine tuning of the engine shortly.

No hijack...inspiration rather. I see fro the infamous unpainted "t" on the fuselage that you did the upgrade.

The aircraft looks awesome. When do you think that you are going to start doing flight testing and what category did you register it as on the build application (still haven't submitted mine)?

It`s not the canopy glass that is the problem. You need to sharpen your drill bits in a special way, otherwise cracks results. To drill metal etc, you sharpen the drill, so it will "digg in", exactly what is not needed when drilling plexiglass. IE, how to ruin a R5k canopy glass in seconds. Just grind the Cutting edge of the drill bit "blunt". so it will scratch through, and you will have no more ^$#%$@#&^&*. vhpy

Thanks Boet, I will try this.

German, dare I ask what you expect me to the do with the soldering iron....make the head to the required diameter of the hole and burn through the canopy?
