Re: Pioneer dualstar
Morph - Andy Kaspersen is flying her for now till he is happy with everything then He'll give me a conversion and then I can fly the 40 hours proving. Was just happy to see her airborne. Couple of months worth of work in there.

Re: Pioneer dualstar
Initial flight showed that the sails were not tensioned enough. The prop we had was also not enough for the 618 so we had to drop the gear ratio to be able to keep the rpm down. That seems Ok now and the sails have been tensioned. Next test flight scheduled for this wednesday morning and hopefully I'll convert onto her this weekend.

Re: Pioneer dualstar
Next flight test still showed the wing sails to cave in at the bottom. Bottom battens have now been added and I'll put the wings on again tomorrow morning.

Here's a strange one for you! In a few of your pictures there is a Cubby Zu-DPT in the background-- Please tell me who owns her...
GlenW and myself are the owners of ZU-DXU and would like to make contact with other Cubby owners.
Thanks

Hans the cubby belongs to a docter in the east rand. He bought it to get trained in but it seems nobody wants to do ab-initio for him in the cubby. Thus currently it is simply gathering dust. I'll get his contact details for you over the weekend or you can phone Andy and ask him for the gent's contacts 082-651-7317.

Re: Pioneer dualstar
FEE was test flown this morning again and I'm told all is well now. If everything works out right on saturday(read weather plays along) then I should get a conversion onto her and then I can start getting that 40 hours of test flying out the way. Whoo hoo.

Re: Pioneer dualstar
Ok - Flew her some on saturday and did the conversion this morning. It isn't a cheetah as far as the handling is concerned but she flies fine. We have WAY too much HP there and she climbs like a homesick angel with a ground roll of maybe 50m if that much. You have to throttle back otherwise you go VNE in the climb. But that means the engine can work half as hard as normal and hopefully give us a good life. Waether hasn't been really suitable to continue flying this morning so we did a relatively short session - but the rest of the test flying can now be done. Current hours on the hobbs is 3.25.

Re: Pioneer dualstar
morph haven't spent that much time but 65 mph at around 5200 rpm and I even saw 70 a couple of times at almost full throttle while still climbing like crazy. prop set to limit the motor at 6000 rpm static.
