Re: Thunderbird - BMW R1200 Engine
This weekend fitted the Oil Cooler and Fuel injectors. This week will get the Oil Cooler pipe made up as well as the accelerator cable. Next weekend finish the battery box, fit the oil cooler pipes. Then fit the wire loom. Not long now...
Will take some pics during the week.

Air Hog, I used the throttle cable junction box that came out of the bike. It works like a charm. See pic.

Hi Boet, using the same. The cable I am getting is the one from the Throttle box to the lever.Boet wrote:Air Hog, I used the throttle cable junction box that came out of the bike. It works like a charm. See pic.

Re: Thunderbird - BMW R1200 Engine
Hi, this T-bird had a Simonini motor on so I don't know the difference between 582 and BMW. We have moved the engine back (Boom shorterned by 50mm) and the Mount also very short, so we are well within C of G.EL MEXICANO wrote:THAT'S THE WAY TO GO ,I AM VERY INTERESTED IN YOUR PROJECT.GOOD LUCK.

Hi Air Hog and Shrek
Good meeting you guys at Kroon today thanks for the coffee
The visit from the Savanah team Ian and Conrad was awesome
The Thunderbird BMW conversion is looking good if this combo is successfull I am sure I will be next
to do the same to my Thunderbird as the 618 will be due in around 150 hours for the next mandatory
Overhaul with possible crank replacement.
Regards
Big Mac

This weekend it is autoelectrical time. Got the Wire tekkie there to do complete re-wiring. (Excluding the ECU wireloom) Ready to start very soon.

Re: Thunderbird - BMW R1200 Engine
I am busy with my T-bird conversion and therefore loose some building time. The Autoelectrician removed all the old wiring this Saturday and started rewiring. Thought he will finish in one day but that was wishfull thinking. There is progress but slow

Re: Thunderbird - BMW R1200 Engine
Update
Progress is slow. My Auto-electrician did not pitch... again... so had to do it myself. Have put the pod back today and it is starting to look like an Aerie again. Also fitted the prop to check clearance and it looks 100% Will finish the electrics on Tuesday and will then be ready for start.
Not long now!!!
