Well... I have packed the wing back in the bag, ready for its ride to Solowings. Bundy needs a SERIOUS lesson in how to pack the wing into the bag nicely  ...

....Luckily the wing sail is completely vrot so cant possibly do more damage  ^

Took the strobe light off and connected to the battery.....

....It's Alive!!!

Ripped off its mounting in the prang, took a heavy knock but still works. Sorted the mountings and good to go. One less thing to buy...

Gotta love Airmagic...tough stuff (^^)

I collected the Instrument pod from the spray painters....well I'm 90% happy so on we go.

I had them sand out the seam that was visible down the centre line...looks much better than it used to. Have learnt that respraying fibreglass can be tricky, 2 k finish must be done by experienced guys as it is difficult to get the finish just right. Hell, they look a lot better than they did last time I was told to collect.

Still waiting for the pylon fairing, they ran out of paint unfortunately due to having to redo. This first pic shows the "seam" that was removed, you can see how it used to be by going through the previously posted pics. I think it looks better without it. (^^)

Instruments back in the pod... Uncle Hans will probably shout at me and tell me I did it all wrong!

Now I have a question... we are replacing the Buzzcom with an Airmagic system. Have a look below at where the BC used to mount into the pod just below the fuel guage...
gggghj.JPG
Paul/Gav...do you guys sell a "blank" that will cover the hole or should I make one? Then I can mount the AM chatterbox onto the blank. Nice and neat. (^^)

They just came to fetch the wing, off to Pine Town. Hope they can at least save some of it towards the new wing!!?? I am still waiting for the other parts from Solo Wings to arrive. Maybe tomorrow?? Will let you know as soon as it arrives Bundy. (^^) Very surprised on how cheap courier fees are. It costs R 468-00 to get the wing down to Pine Town. I think it is very reasonable.

R460 doesnt even cover the toll fees there and back....

That said....here's my vote that Solowings moves to Gauteng   Would suit me very nicely!

Well, a good few hours spent and good progress made. All parts delivered were 100% correct, well done Denise and the gang at Solowings (^^)

Learnt a hell of a lot today. Started with the boom and frame and worked our way forward from there.

Getting the seatframe bracket and the engine frame perfectly lined up and spaced along the boom is critical as Hans explained to me. If the seatframe bracket is mounted too far forward or aft of the correct position, it changes the angle of the motor to the airflow in flight. A stuff up at this early stage will result in a complete strip down later on, so it pays to spend a lot of time and effort getting it right now. :)

We really struggled a bit to get the wheels on, the new axles were prob a 1/4 mm too big in diameter but we got it right in the end.... (^^)

Hard day's graft, but the reward was great, all the major structural work is now complete on the undercarriage. 6 weeks ago, I thought I'd never see this plane in the air again....seeing her upright and "rolling" is a great feeling. Cant wait to get stuck into the rest. (^^)

A big thank you to Hans at Microland, without his experience and knowledge we could never have attempted this :) .... Long way to go, but I feel like we jumped over the first big hurdle today.

Small headache.....

We reused the one shock which was undamaged (just ordered a new cover for it) in the prang but because the new shock has no wear and tear, the trike is leaning to one side....will see what can be done when I go again on Friday.

Got the quote for the wing.... just need to quickly klap the lotto tonight!

Hey Bundi.
You are so lucky to have Hans now. When his project arrives, you wont even be able to talk to him.
Looking good so far. You must be itching to get into the air again.
Vernon. (^^)
