He has a little list of things that need to be fixed, I can help him with that. One in particular the flap lever is very loose and moves when you move the stick  . Richard discovered this in flight and jammed some card board in to keep it still.

His brakes are also not good. Does he still have the other (bad) o-rings in the master cylinders?

He SMS `ed from Vryburg. Impressed with the performance of the small aerie. :!: :D Re: EAZ, tighten the 8mm friction bolt on the flap handle. If the brakes is 'soft", one of two reasons. Either air in the system, BLEED, or the disk pads are shot. Replace. I have a set in stock. George took some fhoties, sat in his aeroplane, made radial noises, and seemed most chuffed with what he found. I am relieved, for it is difficult to relay all you are doing with pictures. :D

Explorers etc.

Postby John Boucher » Wed Dec 12, 2007 4:51 pm

Hi Boet

Would have liked to have seen the plane George was flying but had to divert from Prieska direct to Vryburg. I would helped here with fuel etc.

Elmar landed here today with your old pride and joy.... Wanted to take a photo of her snuggly resting in my hangar for the night..... we had a pleasant chat even so!

Do I detect a somber note in your postings?

Chin up old boy!

Will post som pics and maybe a small story when back in civilisation. Laptop not speaking Canon, Sony or 3G so been a bit frustrating on IT side, but having fun. 8.3hrs down the road so far. Other than sore bum all else cool.

Today I mitered all the engine mount pipes into the jig. Now only needs to be welded. All tubing to Rotec specs, 1/2" OD and thickwall tubing. As everything will be tri-angulated it will be VERY strong. :D

Shop re-opened today. Back to normal: Werk jou gat af :!: We prepped the vlerkies of the Animal, will cover tomorrow. Meanwhile, while last bits of glue dries, we fitted the boot cowl and the doors. Doors and small windows can now be painted and fitted. I took the engine mount with to Cape Town, last week for welding, but the bloody welding shop okes were still on holiday. Going to CT on wednesday, hopefully better luck this time around :D

Covering going on.....off to Fairest tomorrow, to put little Softness on plane to UK. A prospect I do not look forwards to. By the time I return on friday covering should be completed. Lads well trained, motivated and VERY proud of the quality work they put out. :D Hopefully will return with the welded engine mount. Then we can hang the clockworks :!: :!: :D :D :D

Back from the fairest. The engine mount has been welded, and now the clockwork-fun part can begin. The lads were very busy, and finished the wing-covering. :D Just the rib stitching left....

Can't wait to hear what she sounds like - I love a radial.

Are you going to fit a cowling Boet? How are you going to finish her off?

Very nice Boet,

The owners will be very pleased with this BB when its finished.

I can see many more, like this, in the future coming out of your workshop.

Kind regards,

Gunter Rostek.
