Reilly's RV 12

Re: Reilly's RV 12
I have put in 42 hours so far. Work have unfortunately been getting in the way lately.
The vertical stabiliser is complete and the horizontal stabiliser is ready to be skinned.
Learning curve is steep sp far. The vans forum is amazing as you can basically follow the build progress of others ahead of you and pick up on any tricky areas before you get there.
The kit goes together so well that you can see progress quite quickly. My litlog site is up to date with more pics. You can view it at www.mykitlog.com/reilly

Re: Reilly's RV 12
I have nearly completed the horizontal stabiliser. Its skinned with the main skins and aft skins. Busy attaching the hinges for the trim tabs and then just the control horns and counter balance weights to be fitted.
After that I will go onto the tailcone build.
I am enjoying the build so far. The nice thing and an important one for potential builders is that I have not put myself under any pressure in terms of deadlines. I work when I want to and that means that I still find it relaxing and enjoyable. ( Hopefully it stays that way).
Building at home means that if you only have one hour or even 30 mins you can still build.
So far I am managing in the single garage but I forsee that it will become a bit cramped later.
The wiff is getting a bit miffed at the jacuzi room being used for completed parts storage.........especially as its off our bedroom
. But hey a man has to do what a man has to do

Thatchman what is happening? Where are the update photos...please post...James
Re: Reilly's RV 12
Sorry Scotsman and others about the lack of updates. Work on the RV was slow over the last two months due to year-end BS and all that at the orifice but is back on track now.
Since the last update, I have fitted the fibreglass tips to the VS and rudder and made a lot of progress on the tailcone. Nice to see a big part come together now which actually resembles an aircraft part.
I can see space will start to become an issue soon. The tailcone is going to go high up on a shelf at the back of the garage once finished.
I am busy with the static pitot lines at the moment and fitting the trim cables before the tailcone gets closed.
Total hours to date are about 70 odd.
Still learning lots from other builders and the Vans forum. Nothing like checking others problems for a heads up.
Some pics attached.

This looks like a real easy aeroplane to build. Does it get pop-rivited together?
