Finally Bushbaby BTB took to the air.
On Tuesday 25 March BTB was ready for flying, and Jan Loedolff was just the right guy to do the initial flying.
After 2 or three circuits, the air cooling on the Jabiru was sorted out, the vertical trim tab installed and tuned and serious testing could commence.
I will post test results as well as pictures next time.
For the people who wanted to know if the Jabiru was the right choice for the Bushbaby, I must admit, with the 64" prop, I could only get 2900 rpm from the engine, and it is a little slow out of the blocks.
But once up and flying, it cruises 80 mph easily.
On Sunday 30 March we flew the Bushbaby over from Groblersdal to Lydenburg, and had to cross the 6500 ft mountains. No problems.
Thanks again to the Groblersdal flying community for your exceptional hospitality. I enjoyed my training time with you guys.
