Howdy! I fly an RAF2000 (2.2 carbed) with Sport Copter mast, rotorhead, hub bar, rotors, and air trim.
I immediately installed a Boyer H-stab right after my training and checkride, and highly recommend this.
I've put 165 hours on it in two years. I'm also a fixed-wing pilot/owner, and will checkride in gliders.

I've been to South Africa 4x for hunting, mostly up near Pietersberg/Polokwane.
Love the country and its people!

Safe flying!

So a hearty hi to all who churn up the blue skies with rotor blades. I have not been on this forum for ... cant remember. What happened? I am still flying. Still have my Calidus. Before this beaut I had the 4th Magni m16 in the country ( narrow body). Flew around the country and documented “ Fly the beloved Country” for SABC2. Went on to invest in a further 2 wide body M16 s, then the second M22 in the country followed by 2 Xenons and then a Calidus. I have flown fixed wings ( Piper Arrow, Cessna 172, Piper Seneca and Beech Baron since 1989 and gyros since 1999. I have clocked up many an amazing flying hour in these machines doing yearly cross countries over Angola, Namibia, Mozambique, the Orange River from the Lesotho mountains to Alexanderbaai.
I used to post regularly and ‘ feverishly’ on this great forum. Then , during one of our yearly ‘ gyro safaris’ my one buddy was killed in a low flying accident. One by one after that incident my other flying buddies dropped out and quit flying and I ended up flying alone. And the interest waned...
So why this post? A chat with my friend Lennie Klopper bout selling my gyro... my pal Vic Venter renewing his lissenoe...a few nostalgic old gyro safari video viewings and here we go again. No selling of my Calidus. Back in the saddle again. The bug is back. I am looking forward to rekindling the passion for gyros which is in ones blood and will always be a part of your make up. So maybe it is time to start those ‘ trippies up again? Fly safe!!

YEEHHAAAAAA!!! Welcome back! So glad you have taken this decision Johan. As one of Gyro's best ambassadors ever we need you in our sport. Planning the next long cross-country flight and you and Vic are invited for sure!! Look forward to flying with you again.
Best news ever. *happy dance*

I recall a benoude boude panick years back in my Xenon when the fuel level indication started dropping rapidly and I thought my tank was leaking. Was something else to do with the MGL impeller. I had the same interesting situation yesterday whilst surveying the beautiful brown hibernating Highveld vegetation over the Magaliesburg area from 500agl. All of a sudden, fuel level dropping at a scary rate. One eighty degrees and a more than brisk return to FATA ( with a much too fast approach and resultant flare which went on forever) followed by a leap from the cockpit ( interesting feat at my fragile age approaching the dreaded 3 score years plus ten) and an inspection of the tank. No leaks there... and still 54 lts begging to be burnt. Indication on the MGL showed 25. Spoke to Lennie this morning and will check with Theuns tomorrow. Float sensor sticking? Impeller not lekka? Anyone with a similar experience?
And then there is a HUGE, FANTASTIC pilot aid for gyros developed by the klop klop man. Watch this space.
