SA Company acquires RAF manufacturing (was RAF Closes???)

Postby Griffin » Sat Jul 07, 2007 1:21 pm

I read on the Rotary Wing Forum that Rotary Air Force Marketing Inc, the manufactures of the RAF 2000 series of gyros, is out of buisness and the the rights to the product have been bought by a South African company. Does any one have any more information on this?

For what reason would you close a company like that in Europa and still allow their a/c to be built else where in the world.?

They are Canadian as far as I know. I was looking for more info after reading the ad for the RAF 2000. They apparently no longer market or manufacture the RAF 2000 but an (unnamed) South African company has purchased the rights to the aircraft and may continue production. I will PM Eben Jr and ask him to comment.

Confirmed. Eben Moche has bought the rights to manufacture the RAF 2000 Gyro in South Africa.

Apparantly gyro's are financed - that is the easy cheap part.

The expensive part - in order to have it financed, it must be insured comprehensively. I am told, comprehensive insurance on a gyro in the region of R 4 500 a month.

I stand to be corrected.

Hi Ldel

Don’t forget about the R 50 000 excess.

Yes, Wesbank will finance Sycamore's. Dont know the insurance implications but have been told by Wesbank themselves that Sycamore's are on their list of financeable aircraft.
