The course offered by COMET AVIATION is not recognized by SACAA.As far as i know there is only one AP Glen Meyer whose credentials are accepted by SACAA,he did this course elsewhere (i stand to be corrected on this one).Fact is that assembling a motor is not rocket science.I am totally convinced that very high standards are maintained at Peogeot,Renault,Ford or any onther motor manufacturer.Fact is,you get a guarantee (gosh i hate this language) if you have your motor rebuild by these people. Not so with the AP's.I know of cases....
SUGGESTION
Let Comet Aviation set up a facility at a runway of their choice. This wil be an engine rebuild facility, trimmed and fitted to their "so called standerds." They sell these shit engines, let them maintain it,take responsibility for the repairs. They can appoint mechanics out off the "existing pool".You fly in and you fly out. These mechanics(because that is what they are, thousands of them out there)be paid by Comet. The AP will not hesitate to tell you how special or different this assembly procedure is,while there are mechanics out there that does the Porsche,Mercedes,Ferrari or any other engines for that matter.ASSEMBLY of a motor is not specialized.
I will definately be installing a different engine.

Hi frans,

Just for your info, i get 284kg of thrust out of the 2.5 non tubo engine we use @5200 rpm. On a 4bladed warp drive pitched @11,5 degrees.

Keep up the good work.

Hi Eben,
I want to ask you plenty questions. For now i want to know how you procure your spares for your engines. What is the price structure compare to Rotax? Also ,what is the weight of your engine?
What is your policy as to guarantees of your workmanship, repairs etc.Spoke to Jaco van Tonder recently and he is very impressed with your facility, you standard of work and ethics.Would it be possible to fit that engine on other gyro's,power to weight ratio, fuel consumption.
Talking about work ethics,a lot of Toyotas and if i recall also mini's were recalled for problems related to safety. There were hundreds if not thousands of cars involved. What Rotax is doing now constitutes murder.Selling engines with known flaws in it.Maruis and Juanita did a big tour recently, and nobody will appreciate how relieved i was when they were safely home.I didnt mention anything about this to them, but i made them promise to report back end of each day. That would have spoiled their fun,but imagine how i would have felt if they or someone didnt return.
Who handles your engine overhauls?

Hi FRans

Spares is readily available. We also do not rebuild engines anymore and only use new short blocks.
Weight of the engine is 116kg producing 165HP.
Cost can not be compared to Rotax, to gve you an indication , a 5 L oil cost only R200, oil filter is only R108, plugs is only R40....So an oil and plug service will cost you R468.00 Excluding the Labour. (30 min)

it is very difficult to guarantee a product like this after it has left my factory, but I do give a 50H guarantee after it has left me.
I am sure it would be possible to fit them to the other gyros. I am just not sure if the frame will handle the power as i am not sure how the setup looks.

We have also changed management systems and currently I am getting between 18 and 22L per hour Feul burn. ( 2 poeple)

Cost per engine Including reduction dive. Bolt on assembly is about R200 000-00

I will post a picture of the assembly soon.

Regards

Eben

Impressive Eben,

Groete
Eben

Hi Eben
VOORSTEL

HI Frans

Wie is die eienaar van die gyro? Wie het die rotors aan hom verkoop?

Eben

Hi Frans,

Groete
EBen
