Morning Gyro drivers,

What is a Gyro Licence going for these days? (assume no previous experience)

Mate of mine wants to know... :)

Alan
I think the going rates are:
Instructor R 500 - R 600 per hour
Hire of flight school gyro: R 500 per hour
Fuel for 1 hour training: R 300

Depending on the person, anything between 25 to 40 hours training.

I am not sure about ground school fees and the cost of the study material.

Hi Bundy,

I asked around at a number of schools last year, all around R1300 per hour. 30 hours minimum requirement, 15 dual and 15 solo, but you know how that works. Keep on adding!

I had most of my other stuff in place due to my microlight licence, and only had to do two exams, gyro principles of flight and gyro technical. All the other technical stuff applies just the same as with the microlight licence, (radio, other exams etc).

Your best case scenario is around 50-55k, but obviously you need to allow for more if required.

Cheers!
