Awesome achievement.
Well done. AutoGyro holds the non-stop long distance record too.

Re: Gyrocopter world record
I believe so Hangarguy.
Theuns Eloff held it briefly for Cpt/Pta I think, then Tom went even further.
I am not sure if they are recognised as official records or not. Would hope so.

Hi
1550KM is claimed on the Magni website - see the first listed PDF on the link below ( MASSIVE fuel tank )
http://www.magnigyro.it/inglese/news.htm
The FAI don't always ratify all claims - some claims lack the kit to fully authenticate the flight.
Bear in mind the FAI website currently shows the longest distance covered as 1414KM.

One day...
The person who says it can't be done should not interrupt the person doing it.

Re: Gyrocopter world record
I remember an altitude record that was set in a Magni at Ermelo but can't find anything on Google. The unofficial height was 29 000 feet. Does anyone else remember this ? I think it was in 2004.
Re: Gyrocopter world record
Hi T-bird, hope you are well.
I think you refer to the record set by Athur Kempele (please don't kill me for the spelling)
I attended speech one day where he told us on all the preparation and the attempt itself.
It was done close to Piet Retief (outside busy airspace) and if my memory serves me I think he achieved 22 000ft.

Re: Gyrocopter world record
There was an article in the microlighters magazine about Arthur's record attempt. Does anyone have a copy of it, I am really interested in reading it again.
