Flying De Hoop

I spent my Christmas vacation at Cape Infanta at the mouth of the Breede river. Learjet on the other hand was at Arniston. However both of us had our gyro's at Nachtwacht (small crop spraying strip near Bredarsdorp) and managed to do a fair bit of flying as the weather gods were kind to us.

A great white patrols the inshore pinnacle at Skipskop.
The scenery at Vaalkrans is mind-blowing.
Vaalkrans is one of the stops on the whale trail.
Learjet enjoys the stunning coastal scenery heading back to Arniston.

The wreck of the Meishu Maru at Agulhas in the sunset light
Learjet enjoys some low-level touring along the deserted beaches approaching Arniston.
De Mond nature reserve
Two boats carrying spearfishermen try to chase a great white away.
Sunset over Cape Agulhas lighthouse. ZU-RDL & ZU-EPZ were the two southernmost gyros on the continent at that point!
The small coastal fishing village of Cape Infanta.
The terrain is not friendly along the eastern section.
Large schools of dolphin are a common sight.
Unusually clean water along the coast at Skipskop.
Strandloper tidal fish traps near Arniston are thousands of years old.
ZU-EPZ approaches Sir Lowry's Pass on the way up to Arniston.
Yet another great white, this one near Pearly Beach.
