Can anybody point me in the right direction please? We are currently trying to get a gyro approved for building and selling in SA. Now that I have gone through the CAA, with all the attendant b@#llsh!t! and know nearer an outcome yet! What is the process, in clear laid down steps, to take to get a gyro approved for production in SA? Anyone able to help?

Hi Glenne
Do you have the prototype approved yet?

Not insulting you but are you new to this forum? Speak to Wagtail, Johan is just about the only one capable of helping, whether he has time is another debate...

Good Day Glenne.
I trust you are well. Your question refers?
"Can anybody point me in the right direction please? We are currently trying to get a gyro approved for building and selling in SA. It is fairly easy, you make an appointment at the CAA with someone at certification or at Airworthiness NTCA. They will then help you with the process and the way forward. If you are keen on reading you can also go to the legislation page on the caa.co.za regarding the Airworthiness standards for NTCA machines. This can be found under Part 24. You should also take time to read AIC 60.1 and AIC 60.2. They explain the process. As far as i know Johan v Ludwig is sorted with the Kriek, Ashley is in process with the Arrowcopter, Pierre is on track with the UFO. There are numerous others that i can point out...
So, with all due respect sir, i think your statement "Now that I have gone through the CAA, with all the attendant b@#llsh!t! and know nearer an outcome yet!" is not true. If you can post the names of people contacted and samples of the letters written to the CAA on this posting i will help to resolve the perceived problem.
Greetings
Braam Hechter

I must say that the limited dealings I have had of late with the CAA, they have been an absolute pleasure. Quick, friendly and professional.
In my opinion we are fortunate in SA to have a contact person as Braam Hechter who goes out of his way to assist wherever he can.
