Custom Gyro Suits, Blue Ridge Trading

Postby ZULU1 » Sat Feb 12, 2011 7:40 pm

I met with Bernard today, he has had some demand for the "Gyro suits" mentioned on the Gyro down PMB thread. As a result he is making a specific suit with some form of gaiter at the leg entry. Unsure of the details but this seems like it may help out in a fire scenario. Something similar to a fire mans suit probably. This operation is not a mickey mouse outfit, they make for helicopter companies, Police etc throughout the African continent. Also many types of bulletproof vests used with Chubb, ADT etc. And obviously EOD suits, battle dress etc. See http://www.blueridgetrading.co.za/

Hope this has been of some help.

Paul, I have forwarded the details to Bernard, I am sure that we can make some arrangement to bring some up and also the headsets / intercom setup that we have developed with "Low Level" and a new helmet which should be ready by then. I am aware that he has manufactured some suits for Gyro pilots.

No guarantees but we will try..

Cheers Paul

Hi Folks, i see they do head sets and intercoms. In the gyro we still suffer from the noise factor. Is this specificaly designed for gyros and if so does anyone have first hand experience on how effective they are with teh noise cancelation and interference on the intercom.

I had a buzzcom intercom, and even on short flights with a pax, I used to switch the intercom off, cause the noise drove me crazy. I showed the pax where to put it on if he wants to talk to me, and then switched it off again.

I've put the airmagic system in, which Paul designed for gyros and it is awesome. I've done a 2 hour flight again on Friday with a pax, and one tends to forget you speak over an intercom. It is not only the noise cancelation that is great, the sound quality is fantastic. The other intercom systems sound like an..........uhhmmm ....intercom. The airmagic sound quality is like a normal conversation, where as other systems, even with seriously expensive headsets sounds like that, thin squeeky clockradio, intercom sound.

My hangarmate flies a Thunderbird fitted with an airmagic. Listening to his transmissions on a Saturday, it beats the big birds' systems on clarity by a mile and a half. In his open cockpit, there is less wind noise on a transmission than the noise in the closed cockpits with their expensive radios.

Best money I have ever spend on my gyro. (^^)

I've only bought the headset option, not the helmets - personal preferance.

Seen Piet Meyer's leather cladded helmets - nice.

Microair 760.

Paul gave me an interface with the intercom that just plugs into the back of the radio. Gave it power, plug it into the radio and it worked. vhpy
