WONDERFUL!

For the record, Both Louis van Wyk and I have 2 airworthy Gyro's each and will have all four there for the day on Saturday! That makes it at least 55! Hooray!

Dit gaan 'n ding wees!

How wrong you are Trikenut.

I know of only one bird - the parrot - that talks; and it can't fly very high.
Wilbur Wright, declining to make a speech in 1908
US airplane designer & aviation pioneer with brother Orville Wright (1867 - 1912)

No parrots amongst us!

Are we going to see both the 'Nuts' there on the day? ;-)

Great Ideas Grumpy!!

This is going to be a MAJOR event and while Johan Stemmet is arranging TV coverage, it will be aired after the event. We need some promotion before the time to make it really big. Come on guys, between us we must have huge contacts to get some promotion. An event like this can go a very long way towards dispelling the ignorance about Gyro's that abounds out there. Even high time aviators/instructors that have not been exposed to Gyro's have the wrong idea and consider them to be "garden furniture" Lets begin to set the record straight with this event.

Dave Lehr (for one) is in Advertising/promotion and should step up to the plate. Come on LearJet, get Barcardi or someone to sponsor something - maybe prizes or... Toyota to donate transport to bring underprivileged kids for a flip? Some of our esteemed members own wine farms - how about a few bottles/cases? Louis/Jonathan/Paul - kom nou manne! a wine auction comes to mind - proceeds of which half goes to SAGPA and half to charity perhaps? Surely gyro pilots around the country can assist in making this an event to remember?

Jumping Castles, Mechanical bulls, Stalls, Vintage Cars, competitions ? - lets make it a Gyro Jamboree to be remembered! !!!!

Any more ideas?

I am in discussion with ATNS Cape Town International establishing the do's and don'ts for peninsula flights on the day, through their zone, and will publish this as soon as it is complete.

URGENT APPEAL

Postby FO Gyro » Thu Nov 11, 2010 11:07 pm

Can I please make an important appeal for all those flying down, for the sake of the families, and also the gyro community, to the leaders of each group of gyro's, that they emphasize to the rest of the group that flying at 20ft AGL is not cool, and brings a tremendous amount of grief when it all goes wrong when they hit a telephone or powerline. When the terrain is flat, you can have just as much fun at 300ft, without having to worry about obstacles. When flying in valleys, give it much more of a margin for those lines dangling across the valley.

I've been on numerous long trips where the guys fly for extended periods at less than tree top height. Guys, we want you to have an awesome trip down, and nobody wants to spoil you fun, but your loved one's would also like to see you return safely. Too many accidents are caused by bad judgement by the pilot.

Have a beautiful trip down!

Ek wonder of daar iemand meer noord as ek daar gaan wees. My GPS wys my (1008 miles) Alldays-Stellenbosch. Geniet en asb weer eens, VEILIG VLIEG aan almal sien jul saterdag. vhpy vhpy
