No problem Jean.

Johan wanted to fly the UFO today but the rain last night left the runway to wet for test flying. At least, it is at Wagtail now and when the opportunity arise
he can take advantage of it. Would like to be there, but the sooner the UFO gets put through it's passes by Johan, the sooner I can do the conversion (^^)

Will keep you posted

You are right (^^) (^^) Now we can start a new topic "Flying the UFO"

Yesterday, the conditions was perfect for test flying puff

I will post a video on you tube soon.

We have a little more work to do on the UFO, we are getting there.

What are your immediate perceptions of the alien?

Amper klaar ##

Veilig vlieg

Hi Pierre.Congratulations to you and Johan on your awsome achievements with the UFO.I have just returned from New Zealand-Completed the test flying of the new tail.It is FANTASTIC.It will be well worthwhile fitting it - biggest improvement is the stability of the gyro above 75mph-roccccck solid.Flying with doors on improved the performance considerably-no yaw issues.Cruising at 100mph at 4800rpm-with pax-One of the best gyros i have flown.Keep up the good work.Best regards Gary.

It is good to hear from you again Gary, congratulations to you and Geoff with the development on the new tail. Do you know when Geoff
will have some stock? If I want to fit one, it must be before the 40 hour proving flight authority expire.

I am amazed at the cruise speed you mention, that is excellent at 4800rpm.

Thank you for the feed back.

Wow. 100mph @ 4800 with 2-up! That is very impressive.
I am looking forward to seeing this machine at the Gariep fly-in during May.

Hi Pierre.Geoff is busy manufacturing 5 tails at the moment.Give him a call. The 2.5 Subaru on the test gyro is developing 190Hp at sea level with the new exhaust-hence the figures-flying with the doors on makes a huge difference. With doors of she is comfortable at 85 to 90 mph at 5200rpm.The new tail is 3 to 4KGs lighter than the T-tail.The figures i have quoted are accurate test flying figures and not thumb sucked.Value for money it is the best gyro around(with the new tail).Regards Gary.

Actually it is Johan and his team at Wagtail that must get the credit for the accomplishments on the UFO, He has spend many hours
with calculations and paperwork to get the red tape sorted at SA CAA. And now that he has flown the UFO here, I am stunned with the way
he was trouble shooting various problems. We gyronaugts in South Africa are fortuanate to have such expertise here.

Gary, thank you for sharing this information on your test flights, it give insight to the ability of the UFO.

The prefomance is excelent, I will have the doors fitted on the UFO.

I am not surprised that the performance will improve with well designed doors. Less drag.
Good for you guys, Keep it safe and ENJOY!

I received the registration marks for the UFO today. (^^) (^^)

Spoke to Jan at Wagtail yesterday, after he pulled my leg, saying nothing had happened on the UFO yet, and I must mention, he had Frans Strydom for a witness
he laughed and said, "got you again!!"
To my relieve, everything concerning the turbo modification was fitted. Now just awaiting the waste gate, (Jaco organised) which is last to be fitted.
Johan wants to get the preliminary proving hours done so that we can continue with my conversion to the UFO, to fly the balance of the hours, before he signs it out.

Looking forward to good weather and only success (^^) (^^) (^^)

Will post pics in the next week.
