Are you often asked, "how does a gyro plane fly?" Here's a great way to demonstrate it with a quick and easy to make paper gyro! vhpy

Image
Cut out a 6 1/2-inch-long by 1 1/2-inch-wide strip of paper. (Note: We found that using pinking shears made the gyrocopter fly better, but one cut out with ordinary scissors works well too.) Starting at the top, cut a 3-inch slit down through the middle of the strip to create a pair of wings.
Image
Fold down the wings in opposite directions from one another. Attach a paper clip to the bottom of the strip for weight. Now your child can drop the finished gyrocopter from an elevated spot, and it should spin to the ground.

Hi Dave.

Below is one of the more entertaining projects I have involved my kids in. You should try it:

You can build your very own fly powered model aeroplane if you have:
Match stick
Blade
Freezer
Glue
Glass pot
Patience (To catch flies)

Hmmmm. Nice new picture there Len. Is it any more than a coincidence that the Orion happened to be captured in the same snap as your trusy Sycamore? If not, I hope our hangar landlady doesn't see it, since I fear our rentals will escalate sharply! Tell more :?:
