Microlighters

I had the privelage to go and fly my friend Francois's Sycamore at Rhino on Saturday. Having spent too much time and too much money on getting the plane to his too high standards he was looking for an independant opinion on the plane. Me, I just wanted to fly and flying I did.
Afterwords I realised why I am missing flying so much. It is not necessary the flying but all the people that you meet, the total package. Francois did an amazing job on his plane, creating a brilliant flying machine. All the little irritations I had on my plane, gone on his. The disk brakes that he added works absolutely brilliantly, you can rev her up to 5000 rpm no problem. The rotor performs brilliantly giving a very stable platform, the hydraulic pre-rotator works very smoothly, spinning the rotor up to 200 rpm in no time. Really a beautiful looking and performing machine
Then I also met Andre, building his single seater Heli with the turbine motor that he fits, and my jaw is just dropping. And then all the other names that I can not even remember with one thing common, all flying enthusiast and all brilliant people.
The flying faternity is a special group of people and that is what is making flying so much fun!

I second and third your thoughts and opinions. I started flying at Rhino park some two years ago and have never forgotten the comraderie and friendship that the lads from Rhino offer. As the wheel turns, I completed my flight test (finally) at Rhino on Saturday and all the old faces and friends were there to support me. Morph made a comment on flying in the cape recently and eluded to the companionship at the aifield in times of bad weather, thats what its about.... even if you sit on the ground wishing you could be in the air, the tremendous friendships and lazy war stories told of flying adventures are unbeatable. The flying fraternity is a great bunch of good lads, mostly without agenda and willing to share advice and enthusiasm -

you would have to go a very long way to find a better bunch of lads...
