Good instructors always speak well about all flying machines.
Bad instructors speak badly about machines they cannot fly.

From Kitty Hawk to Gariep, then from Gariep to Stellies...

Can't upload the EP1 file here so those of you who have EasyPlan, email me at lenk AT epr.co.za and I will send you the file with my suggested route.

From Gariep to Stellenbosch in any average gyro, you will need 150 litres of fuel. Here goes the wife !

You guys from Down Under are in for a big surprize next week. The boytjies from up here are revving to go. We will have more than our quota by next friday and arrive at FASH en-mass!! I have had many many calls and e-mails. It will have to be first come first serve next week. I have taken down the names but I need the confirmation. Friday 5 Nov. NOON. boxoffice closes as Gariep wants the numbers by close of business on Friday. Come guys !! Lets do this thing. (^^) JP , there will be fuel stops along the way so do not send the wifey packing yet !! Once all numbers and pilots are confirmed Len will post the route and fuel stops. I will then contact all from up here on a one to one basis and discuss your inclusion into a group and any questions you may have.
Have a great weekend and lets get those e-mails in on Monday ! johan@noot.co.za
Butch, Leo, Malcolm,Hugh etc etc. Waiting for you !!!!

We have 20 guys confirmed. Others just gave names but not confirmed. There will be place for 6 more gyros from the North and then I'm afraid it's each man for himself. ^
Here are the names I have of the guys who have confirmed that they want to be part of the mass formation down to FASH.
The moment I have the last stragglers to make up the last gaggle of 5 I will post detail information.

Deon Maree
Riaan Klopper
Andre Swanepoel
Willie Willemstijn
Rudi Heinlein
Len Gobey x 3 from KZN
Marius Kruger
Theuns Eloff
Sarel Pretorius
Andre Bezuidenhoudt
Johnny de Jager
Dicky Hagerman
Dave ???? MT03
No name , also MT03
Johan von Ludwig 2x

Johan Stemmet

Now guys PLEEEEZZE do me a huge favour. It's no good sending me a mail and informing me that you know of someone who flies with someone who knows a guy who told your wife's sister that he may know someone who is interested in joining the historic flight.
If you want to go ; send me an e mail with your NAME, WHERE YOU FLY FROM, ARE YOU PART OF A REGULAR GROUP AT YOUR AIRFIELD AND WOULD YOU LIKE TO FLY TOGETHER.
With only 4 days to go for the cut off I really need to have definates now... no maybes... or Ill let you know ...or let me think about it.
If you see your name on the list above... send me a mail to confirm. If you do not see your name above and you want to go... send me a mail. Have a great week !

Ok guys we are almost there. Now Butch Brown comes and does the zip down and water thing on our batteries.50 is not going to be a record. "There has been a record gathering of 54 gyros before." All Magnis? Now I remember... If I wasn't there it would have been 53!
Ok , so we put down at least 60 woer woers at FASH on the weekend of the 19 / 20 /21 of THIS MONTH. (^^)
Now the boytjies from the South are not going to make our names up North gat with their brilliant attendance! ##

Ok , so we have 13 guys so far flying out of Gauteng. 3 from Bloemmies and 3 from KZN are joining us at Gariep.
The 4 Calidus's are taking one sharp tigerline to FASH in order to set a new speedrecord in a gyro down to Cape Town! You go Theunsie !!!
Total 23.

NOW... if we take the 13 out of Gauteng , we still have a gap to fill. HEY !! WHERE ARE THE ELAs ?????????????????????? Anthony roer jou gat !! Callie ... en ????? Geen verskonings word aanvaar nie !!
Won't you put the word out and rope in some late comers and slow repliers? If we get 7 more gyros from the Gauteng area we are home and dry to make up our buddy system of 6 groups down to FASH.
The guys down South are organising a great weekend for gyros and I can just forsee the buzz for months to come after the event. This is why we fly gyros. These things can go places where no man has ever gone before. In these things you can discover universes never explored before. These things... (**) (now Im getting carried away and getting mixed up with Star Trek , I think... )
Kom ons gooi manne !! We need 7 more guys and I will do the calls for fuel and bed and food. We must move because Paul also needs to confirm the Protea Hotel bookings for you guys in Stellies.
We take off first light on Thursday 18 November. We kuier n hond uit n bos uit at Gariepdam on Thursday evening and depart for FASH at first light again.
Groups will be spaced 30 minutes apart to facilitate smooth landing and refueling at the watering holes along the way.
Friday night we kuier in Stellenbosch. Saturday the whole day will be Gyro day . The evening is the special Aviators evening. Wait and see ! Sunday we fly back and you are back home again on Monday. You chose your own route back and leave when you want to. There will be guys flying with you. You will not be hitting the road back on your own !! Before we leave you will have teamed up with guys coming back on the same time and route as you.
This is going to be an experience that you will take with you for the rest of your gyro flying days.
Mail me at johan@noot.co.za if you are from up North and want to join us on this special occation.
Have a good one !
