Thanks Paul, an instructor is only as good as his students conduct themselves as professionals in their sport.
You set a great example. Thanks.

Proud and happy to announce that John Zulch went Solo at Aerosport, Fisantekraal.
John is a (Former) PPG Pilot and has bought ZU-EIW - a very nice Sycamore in JHB that he is flying down for the Gyro Jamboree with Matthew of 303 Squadron.

Congratulations John!

Always the same question, who is more proud? Instructor or student?

Greg Vos, Helicopter PPL, went solo at Aerosport, Fisantekraal this past week!

It gives me immense pleasure to see how the 'chopper-jockeys' "convert" onto these wonderful machines with glee!
(I were a chopper jockey once too until I experienced the Gyrocalypse - as Greg has)

Congrats Greg, I wish you many happy hours of flying

Thanks very much guys... and of course to Len & Louis. As a newcomer with no previous flight experience I must say that I think the vibe on this forum and within the SA Gyro community in general is tremendous. I look forward to my continued education and to meeting some of you in the not too distant future.

Regards
Jean.

In flight training, you get 5 categories of people.

One of these is known as the 'Fireball'. He expects to be a triple ace within a month and strives to be above average in the flight program. [ALARM BELLS!] This type of person comes with an inherent extremely high risk factor since he is usually unaware of his own or the machines' limitations and is thus a high risk if the attitude is not adjusted.

One of my recent students fitted into this category for a while and then, I am happy to announce, saw the light. His words to me recently were, "You should have let me do my flight test ten hours ago when I still knew everything, now I know nothing!".

A giant leap in the right direction towards making a safe and competent gyro pilot.

After being put through a grueling session, I am proud to announce that Greg Vos passed his flight test with CFI Louis van Wyk at Aerosport today.

Well done Greg, may you walk proud amongst your peers, be a shining example of a good airman always and continue to learn and carry the banner for Gyrocopters everywhere.

I am proud of your achievement. Well done.

Len

Jean (on the forum as jtresfon) passed his Gyro Pilots Licence flight test today!

Well done Jean. I know you will be an asset to the sport and will keep it safe. Congratulations on your purchase of your Magni M16, ZU-RDL, I know you will have many happy hours of safe flying in her.
