Hi All

Thanks for the good wishes Mak, the lure of going to see her once she had arrived up here was too much to resist. Also, Condor is right, I can hardly wait to fly her.

She is very pretty and, having spent a good hour or so climbing over and into her I am more than happy. The problem, with me at any rate, is that even while I believe very little of what I read statements like it has a high or low thrust line which is not good or a lack of space and things like that do niggle so I needed to correct any misapprehensions and see for myself.

Jabi430, you never know what will happen in about 5 years time although, to be quite honest, I can see you getting your licence in DUO and then, after flying her around for a year or so, getting something like a M24 yourself. I just hope that DUO gives you at least half as much fun as she gave me. It was a bit poignant seeing DUO go. I will attach a photograph of Len and you doing your dummy approach the first time you flew her at Kitty. I also have some video footage which I will try to burn to a CD and give to your brother to torment you with :P

Well done Llewellyn ! It really is a great feeling to sit in , touch and smell your new machine.Did you notice the lovely smell a new gyro has ? You are going to love the side by side. Come and join me at Tedderfield when she is up and flying and we can hit Parys for breakfast with a gaggle of side by sides . I'll organise the Xenons and Vic with his M24 and we take our other halves and make a kuier to celebrate ! Enjoy the excitement and the flying experiences to come. Very happy for and with you !

Sorry I forgot Llewellyn ! Still wanted to add. You must not worry about the talk about space at all . As beauty is in the eye of the beholder , so space is in the eye of the beholder and this is determined by the size of the beholder. Judging by the pics posted you do not have a problem in that department at all and your M24 looks more than spacious enough. Enjoy swaerie !!

Hi All

THI, I give up. I cannot get the photograph to resize without it getting so small that it turns into a miocrodot - I think that I am the only technologically challenged patent attorney on this planet.

FLYNOTE, I will join you at Tedderfield as soon as I am able to but definitely not with my better half. I kid you not, she is so scared of heights that she will not even sit at a window seat of an Airbus. It is odd I know. At first I thought she was worried about me flying, then me taking the kids up in DUO and then I clicked and I have never seen a more relieved person than when I said that I did not expect her to fly with me or anyone else. This was after Condor offered to take her up and countered the then latest excuse that we could not fly together in case something happened to both of us.

I must admit that I rather like the idea of exploring south of Johannesburg for a change because it would open up the Vaal dam and river, Parys and even further if one-night fly inns are contemplated to, for example, Bethlehem and Clarens, something I would really like to do.

Hey man, this is a great pity about the missus !!
One of the nicest plusses of the 'side by side' is being 'side by side' with one you enjoy being 'side by side' with especially in a 'side by side' gyro. Being enclosed is a further plus for added comfort out of the weather! ( ok ' wind in the hair' guys... I know , I know ! )
We must work on something together to swing her ! It's about time we start organising amongst all gyronaughts up here to do breakfasts together on Saturdays. One week in the North, then again in the south. It will be nice to introduce one another to each others flying turf. I started this a few years back and we all joined forces and flew to my game farm in the Waterberg for an overnight tent camp in the bush. About 10 guys came. It was fantastic sitting around the campfire and pitching your tent next to your gyro and just talking flying and gyros. On another occation we did a similar trip to see the Vaaldam overflowing for the first time in years after the droughts.
Once you guys are ready, shout. At the moment we all have our one or two buddies that we fly with all the time and there are a lot more guys out there to share so much of our sport with.
Weekend or one night / two day trips are plentyful in our neck of the woods. The Limopo river , lodge hopping safari I'm doing soon again, is a lovely experience.
We fly to Pezulu tree lodge in the lowveld, then up North and follow the limpopo river all along the Zim / Botswana borders via Musina , the Tuli block ( plenty elephants ) and down to Farah lodge which belongs to the prince of Saudi Arabia. We then return via Pilanesburg.
This is why we have and fly gyros !!!!! Life is short ! There are so many places still to go to ... oh yes and then there is the Cape...
Enjoy !!
