No, built a Xenon from the last available kit. Took 2.5 years !
I am taking it to the hangar for final mast and tail assembly this week-end.
Can't wait to test fly it.

Now I have lost track of what my Xenon mates have been up to but as from this weekend , I'm back in the saddle again !
Alan , I am so delighted to see you doing longer trips and happy with your machine. I know exactly what you are saying about the Xenon in windy conditions. She really sits beautifully on the back of a strong wind. I had them over high ground in Namaqualand and it simply was a walk in the park.
As soon as the other owners give the thumbs up , we must fly to Battle fields. I am very fond of the Anglo Boer war history and would love to fly over the terrain where some of the big battles took place.
Bon jour mon Ami Jean Pierre !!!! C'est gentil d'entendre parler de votre Xenon! Venez et montrez-lui pour moi à Tedderfield samedi ! Let us know how the test flight went.

Sorrie Marius , hoe gaan jy en Juanita aan ? I would love to fly with you guys . You should be A for away by now ? How is the Xenon behaving herself? Have you sorted the tight brake out for Tinkerbell? Has al the setups been done and are you getting used to the Xenons flying characteristics? How many hours? Any snags? Laat ons hoor! I want to ask JVL to set my boost to 42" at 5700 RPM. Im just shy at 40" and 5600 RPM and could do with that extra bit of vooma on a hot day with a heavy next to me. Good thing my wife does not read this forum or she would think Im talking about her en dan is ek so in my #$@r , so in my ...

Bonjour Johan,

For the 40 hours, I'll do a lot of visits to you until you'll be fed-up to see me again. The radius allowed is rather small, Haarties, Parys, Tedderfield, Orient and again the same lot. I have given myself the goal to finish the 40 hours for Battlefields. My room is already paid for ! Hard work ahead.
A bientôt.

Jean-Pierre
I must congratulate you on your perseverance with a kit built like that. I am very curious to see the end product. It must be an incredible proud day to fly the machine that you have built for more than two years. Remember that Kitty Hawk is also within your proving flight range. I attach photos (front & back) to enable you to confirm that yours look the same and all your parts are fitted more or less at the correct place.

Juanita has been busy lately so unfortunately I had to do most of the flying vhpy vhpy vhpy . Xenon standing on +- 35 hours now. The Xenon is with JVL at the moment for inspection and first service and I should get it back on Saturday to do my licence renewal with him. Fortunately no major snags at the moment, only custom setup items that we require and some small adjustments.
I really love the MGL Odyssey and the fact that you can download the Black Box data and evaluate the engine and flight data. This is one of the adjustments I asked JVL to look into as the 912 seems to be running a bit colder than what I would prefer.
I checked the data and we are running at just over 42” at 5740 RPM, about what you are looking for, perhaps our MAP should be just below 42” instead of just over.
Talking about the MGL Odyssey, I see the upgraded Odyssey G2 is out with improved graphics (Looks really awesome, see their web site at http://www.mglavionics.co.za). It seems the upgrade will cost +- R 3200-00 for a new graphics processor. I might take ours to Cape Town in three weeks time to be installed, let me know if you are interested (only a small courier charge might apply, e.g. perhaps a three weeks stay on an unused yacht, with Xenon landing pad, somewhere off the Cape coast).
We still owe you a visit and Parys brekkie, but hopefully we can organize that in the next few weeks.

Thanks Mak for the pics, it will help as I have put the tail in front !
For the rest, as I did not have any plans, I have opted for strength more than looks. The doors are just acceptable, definitely not of the factory cosmetic standard, but strong. I had to manufacture many parts and brackets, and use my own logic to place the whole lot on the firewall. I also used my own electrical diagrams, very different to the standard one. Well all electrics worked first time. Now for the rest, the test might reveal nightmares.
I will post pics BEFORE first flight, as I might not want to see the AFTER ones.
We'll pay you a visit.

Good morning All.

We are busy looking at a Namibia tour as per the schedule below. The intention is to make it a family outing with wifes and kids and to have vehicles going with. The intention is to fly shortish legs and then to overnight/ camp and have time to fly in a specific area. There is also the chance of taking friends and they can then fly with some of the other gyros. Kit will be taken by road thus freeing up the rear seats. The plan is to camp but there are chalets if so required. There are 5 gyro's currently going and we are just putting this out if somebody else is also interested. (The dates are not cast in concrete and obviously can change if required) Should you be interested please pm me for more information.

Greetings and remember to stick to the basics,
Braam
