That photo of Kaplaks explains it all. At one stage on Saturday I saw him, standing around looking extremely bored (why, he was chatting to an Ausie!). And the next moment he was offering to take my kids for a flip in his Sycamore - this after my eldest said she was going to hitch-hike next to the runway! It appears the chair incident has driven him away from the crowd to the extend that he was looking for any reason to fly away.

Well, my sincere thanks to you, Leon, for going to the trouble. The kids really enjoyed it, especially Werner, who said afterwards that if he dies now, it would be ok because he has experienced it all. I just goes to show - a true gyronaught is really somebody special. Soon you will also see me standing next to the runway with a thumb pointing straight up - waiting for that flip.

I just want to echo what everyone said, the fly-in at Kitty Hawk was a huge success and enjoyable, even after Low Level made a precautionary landing on his back. A special thanks to Condor and OldNo7 for their efforts in making this a wonderfull day and also a big thank you to everyone who made the effort to attend, either flying or driving, people as far as Hout Bay, Upington, Alldays, Springs, Rhino Park, Kitty Hawk Hangers, etc, etc.

Dit was net so lekker daar by julle, die enigste verskil is dat Kitty Hawk stock so bietjie meer Castle lite en so bietjie minder wyn as FASH. (^^) (^^) Maar albei was die moeite werd.
Dit wil my voorkom of ons Gyro manne besig is om een groot "happy family" te word. Die fly-inns beteken op die " longrun" baie meer as wat ons besef, of wat is jou gevoel?

Hi All

Well I guess its about time I paid my thanks to all the great people I have met over the past 13 months and especially in the past three weeks. I was for fortunate enough to have made it to Stellenbosch a few weeks ago and then to top it off had another great gyro weekend just past at good old Kitty Hawk. To everyone whom I have met in the past few weekends, thanks for all you your welcomes and support. A special thanks has to go to Glen,Gerrit and Paul for organsing 2 great days, thanks to Leon, Marius and Juanita, you always make me feel welcome wherever we bump into each other (Juanita I look forward to my next Afrikaans lesson, by god I have a lot to learn  ) Marius, I promise not to show up next time until AFTER you have flown. Thanks to Eben for giving me the inside story on the RAF, Pieter was great to finally meet you and hopefully I have convinced you to let me stay until at least Xmas and with a bit of luck you will even let me venture up your way one day. To Butch and Anthony, thanks for supporting the guys, that support you. Swannie good luck with the bite ,and hopefully a speedy recovery will have you back in the air ASAP. Last and certailny not least a special thanks to Len and Christine for all your generosity during my time here, Len you give so much to this great sport and are a true ambassador in every sense of the word. I am pretty sure you had better things to be doing on your Sunday arvo back in Stellenbosch a few weeks ago, but as always your gyro spirit was first and foremost and you made the lads from Jozi more than welcome. For anyone who hasnt been in an M24, I highly reccomend it. I have been fortunate enough to have flown in a large variety of open and closed two place machines and the Magni is a damn nice ride. To anyone I have missed I truly appologise. Finally, one thing has become very clear to me since being in SA, all those South Africans who have left SA and migrated to other parts of the world obviously all have one thing in common "They obviously dont fly" cos if they did they would never have left.

Cheers
Darren
