Hi Guys

The database is almost finished , Those that want a copy just please send me a reply mail.

Then I would like to arrange a Breakfast Fly-In at Fash with the idea of getting to know the guys and those that already know each other to just talk about our passion for aviation (gyro's)

The breakfast will also involve talking about how to fly in formations the rules the safety aspects and airmanship , For this I will get the Instructors and GURU'S that have done it to elaborate on how its safely done .

The idea behind the instruction is that I would like to arrange that we as a Western Cape group fly in a group(gaggle ) to the AGM at Gariep and also to the Overberg airshow .

I would like to get feedback on a date as you would understand ideally it would have to be before the AGM .

Hoping to hear from you guys .

Regards

Paul

I was obviously very biased...
Only took pictures of the M24 and my Sycamore together  vhpy

Compressing and resizing has messed them up a lot...

Here they are in any event.

I am ready to do a "Formation Flight" briefing for anyone that is interested. You guys pick the venue and time and I will be there on behalf of Aerosport with a Powerpoint presentation covering the crucial basics of flying together. We'll need about 1.5hrs to cover the subject adequately in order to recognise the dangers and the imperatives required to avoid accidents.

Ideally, at least one dual session with 2 gyro's is needed to do it safely but I don't think time will allow us to do this with everyone that wants to fly along in the gaggle to Overberg in November. It can still be done safely provided the pilots have applied their minds to the potential hazards. With the exception of Jonathan Mylrae, Dave Lehr and Paul Ackerman, anybody else that wants to join the loose formation will have to attend the briefing or they will have to go it alone.

Paul (Jabi430) has volunteered the facilities at Stellenbosch so perhaps he will be kind enough to make the arrangements and invite all interested?

I look forward to it!

Personally I think it is a great idea if sufficient time and practice opportunities were on your side....

The saying "Fools rush in where Angels fear to tread...." springs to mind!

Hear Hear John.

Fact of the matter is this. I will not fly within 1 000ft of anyone that has not attended a detailed briefing or at the very least has formation experience. Klaar.

Bottom line therefore is that anyone that has not attended a detailed briefing will not be permitted to fly in any formation with me in it. Its not my choice, its the law.

CAR 91.06.6 No pilot shall operate an aircraft-
(a) in such proximity to other aircraft so as to create a collision hazard;
(b) in formation flight, except by arrangement with the pilot-in-command of each aircraft in the formation; ...

No! No problem Thinus! Remember that you will never stop learning and having wings is certainly not a prerequisite to learning!
You'd be more than welcome to attend and I strongly encourage you to do so.
