Hi whirly

In the Xenon, you can fly from either side. The throttle is in the centre console with the choke and pre-rotator and some switches. The instruments is also located in the centre. With the acqusition of a Xenon a set of rudders and stick can be ordered as removable. This is to accomodate non-flying passengers.

Greetings and fly safe,

Braam

Some of my chopper friends will not for all the convincing in the world get into a gyro, even after chewing on the safety concept of autorotation at all times during flight !
FLYNOTE,

I am one of those chopper guys and I am slowly thinking there might be something to these gyros!

If you don't mind, please tell me what caused your accident? If a 1600 hour gyro pilot can make such an accident then what are my chances with zero gyro hours? :?:

Hey Whirly , golden rule !! when in doubt, cut it out.
Short farm runway , strong wind gusting 90 deg. to runway. 35 degrees C , trees at end of runway. Gotta get back to Joburg ... All the right reasons for NOT FLYING. Rather wait till wind dies down or go back by car but no sir ... gotta go now !
So after take off the climb is sluggish due to the density altitude and Murphy adds to the fun as the wind suddenly swings and gusts right onto my back. The gyro loses altitude , not much but enough to call for remedial action by dropping the nose to pick up airspeed and correcting the situation. Would be no problem if the first trees were not directly below me. In a fixed wing this would have been very bad news as loss of airspeed after take off could lead to a stall , wingdrop and spin or flying into the trees at speed...eina !!!
Discission time in the gyro. Won't clear the trees so pull back into a hover and let her settle down. Zero air and groundspeed , onto the ground, no injuries to me or pax but hell !!! did my ego take a bruising !!! My gyro took a bit of punishment , had to replace the rotor, rotorhead, prop and mast and have repairs done to the pod but other than that she was up and flying again within a month or two and has been for 250 hrs since. I still want to kick myself over and over for being so stupid to even considder flying in those conditions. BAD JUDGEMENT. If you are so stupid as to take a chance with any airplane or car or boat , even a calculated one , it still is a chance and you must take the punishment if your gamble went the wrong way.
"There are no new types of aircrashes — only people with short memories. Every accident has its own forerunners, and every one happens either because somebody did not know where to draw the vital dividing line between the unforeseen and the unforeseeable or because well-meaning people deemed the risk acceptable".
ANY AIRCRAFT IS ONLY AS SAFE AS THE PILOT. If I ever , Lord forbid, have another incident it must please be in a gyroplane. I trust these machines.

Thanks for sharing Johan. There is always a fine line between abort and keep on flying. For me as a new/student pilot it is difficult to know that line. These type of incidents always helps. Like Jim Davis always says..."Welcome to the live cowards club"

The final prduction model is the M24 Orion.

The M23 was one of a number of 2 seater / fully enclosed prototypes which Magni developed and tested over the years before finally introducing the end-product M24.
Other fully enclosed test protoypes (which AFAIK never went into production) included the M19 / M21 etc.

Hi Whirley et. al , I used to insure initially but it became heavy so I decided to take the punch if I did something stupid to dent my gyro. I took the punch when it happened but what I saved in insurance over the years covered my costs. Ground cover is a good thing and much more affordable.
When I'm in the air , I am responsible for not doing anything stupid to regret that I do not have insurance. The gyro is not going to fall apart up there ! When my hangar burns down or a tornado removes the roof or our law abiding non citizen friends decide to take a peek in the hangar and remove anything sellable ... then ground cover insurance is responsible.
Flew along the highway yesterday ... lovely afternoon on the Highveld. Got back to the hangar and decided to take the M22 for a spin. Haven't been up in her for some time. Took a bit of getting used to the much heavier controls. The MT and the Ela are also considerably lighter on the controls. It's not a good or bad thing at all. It's just the characteristics of the machine and some guys prefer heavier controls. I love the light resposive feel of the Xenon , just personal taste.
So after 30 minutes my teeth started chattering , my limbs started stiffening , my knuckles started whitening ...
