Well done Johan ! A lovely aircraft ! I have put in mine the baby Odyssey which is the Enigma. I also did my own design on the Rotor pick-up which does not use the supplied magnets but count the gear teeth. 100 of them for each revolution ! Reprogrammed the entire Enigma as it should be used in a Gyro, 4 pages of different screens at this stage. Will improve the screens with time and new demands.
I hope that the machine will be ready next week for the paint shop. Then it is few cosmetics, windscreen and leathers. Then the BIG SCARRY DAY !
Will see you in the air sometimes.

Good luck

Bonjour mon ami Jean-Pierre. Comment êtes-vous ? je ne vous ai pas vu pour beaucoup d'ans !

I have followed all your experiences and I am very happy that you hanged in there ! It will be worth it. You owned my first Magni at some stage. There are always the odd snag here and there with most new / first edition aircraft. It does not mean that the aircraft is rubbish at all but can be very frustrating for a new owner who expects a perfect machine. Remember the pre rotator brackets cracking on our first machines? the turbo mounts cracking? the overheating problems? The bad break systems ? We went through all that but stuck to our machines as the snags were sorted out .Eventually the gyros just kept improving and when you fly these things , the undulated pleasure one experiences , simply wipes out all the negative memories!

We will handle the snags as, when and if they pop up and end up flying a lovely gyro.

I think that the factory is now also coming up to speed. While I was there , the orders and deliveries were streaming in. Xenon is big in Europe and I think that the changes they made to cooling systems and adding intercooler will lead to Xenon becoming as big in South Africa and other warmer countries.

The moment a gyro manufacurer tells me that his machine is now perfect and he will not be changing a thing on it, I will be out of that market. There must be continuous evolution in order for the industry to grow ... improved models ( not neccessary new ones), little extras added mechanically and cosmetically all the time. Then the interest and excitement will be kept alive.

Looking forward to seeing your Xenon up and flying. It wont be scarry. You know and trust your own work ! The machine is fine .

Au revoir jusqu' à plus tard ! Excuser mon français. Oublié beaucoup !

Bonjour Johan,

Your french is not bad at all ! To the others, we were not swearing at anyone (not yet !)
If I had the chance to swear, it would be definitely in french so that our friend Raphael could understand me very well ## . Outside this forum, I did many times swear at him and in fact we are not at all in speaking terms. From the moment he did not reply to any of my e-mails questioning where the 60 % balance of components to complement my kit were, specially that everything was paid up front, then everything broke loose. There are still todate outstanding ! Well instead of crying on my fate, I decided to do things my way. I am quite pleased with the results as only now the factory is implementing changes that I forsaw a longtime ago and altered then. I must say that the only alteration that I have not takkled as yet are the doors. I'll fly first without them and once settled, will deal wit that.
A bientôt.

Jean-Pierre

It has left the factory this morning as promised by the factory and now the waiting starts ! I think I must organize a spitbraai at my hangar and all you fundies can come and help to put it all together again ? (^^) . I have these weird déja vu flashbacks of the feeling I had when I received my first bicycle on my 7th birthday...

And there I have the Xenon up and flying ! What a lovely machine.
Everything went as one could only hope for. It arrived on time, was delivered at my hangar and it felt like christmas, opening the container, removing all the plastic and bubble wrap and finally assembling tailplane, mast and prop. Johan von Ludwig of Wagtail Aviation did a fantastic job in fine tuning the rotor and prop and setting everything up. I went to MGL avionics in Somerset West with my Odyssey and Rainier loaded and set up everything .,I have flown 8hrs in the last week and can not get enough!
The gyro handles beautifully and is quiet . With the lightspeed Zulu headsets you hear only a faint drone in the background ( I've just had my medical and the ears are fine ! ) and comms are excellent.
Braam Hechter gave me superb support all the way. With him importing and Johan von Ludwig as suppoting AMO I can honestly see a great future and following for this lovely machine in South Africa.
I am getting 800 fpm with 2 up, 60 lts fuel. RPM 5800 , MP 38 , airbox temp 41C on the climb @ 80 kph. The RST is a performer .
Cruise is at 5200 RPM , MP 38.5 and she sits at 150 to 160 kmh , still air. Space and comfort much better than my Baron E55 was !
Will keep posting as we go along. As for now I am very happeeeeeee . The M22 is standing in the hangar next to the Xenon waiting for a new owner. Untill then we may still see some little Magxons.

Congratulations Johan, I really envy your troubleless experience ! I know that the Xenon is a great cruiser and will give many happy flying hours.
I'll come and visit you while doing my "probation" time.

Bonne chance !

Congrats Flynote,

I'm quite new at the gyro flying, and if I enjoy flying an ELA, I can only imagine how good the Xenon is!!

ENJOY!!

Mission BURKINA FASO
by Raphael CELIER 24/05/09

The Xenon made its entry in the beautiful country of Burkina Faso. An amazing technical and human adventure into the military world!
One day in February, I received a phone call from a French military Agent..."Mr. Celier, we are only curious to see your machines, but we have to tell you that the military contract is already awarded to HTC /MT03...can we visit you?" The visit was organized. I welcomed in a really chilly weather in Warsaw a delegation from Burkina Faso. With Financial Director from Minister Interior, Colonel of Gendarmerie, Captain Air Force (helicopters) and the French Military Agent. For confidentially reasons, names are not shown.

We then directly drive to our testing airfield: Modlin, north Warsaw.
A Xenon RST, belonging to Mr. Stemmet Johan from South Africa was waiting for us. The S.A. owner was present and accompanied with Mr. Van Ludwig Johan (our maintenance chief center in S.A.). The temperature was around 0 degree, not exactly what they are used too over there, as we will experience ourselves…

For those interested, the complete article is available on celieraviation.eu/news.

Greetings
Braam

It's great to see gyros being finally recognised for their unique attributes / and cost to operate benfits (compared to helo's) within the commercial / military / law-enforcement arenas.
